Welcome back! I hope you all

had a great summer! It has
been a great first week back
with two excellent training days
with staff and a settled start for
learners on Thursday and
Friday.
We are delighted that our
summer GCSE results saw a
change in the schools two year
downward trend, our overall
5A*-C including English and
Maths rose from 42% to 50%.
Given the significant
turbulence last year we are
pleased with the green shoots

have much work still to do.

We start the new school year

with a new Vice Principal, Andy
Woodcock who will be leading
on curriculum development. Mr
Woodcock has a breadth of
secondary experience and will
be an asset to the Senior team.
We also finally welcome a Head
of Maths, Donna Richardson
who has previously worked at
Minsthorpe Community College.
Learners faced real disruption in
Maths last year as a result of unfilled vacancies and long term
staff sickness. We are delighted

and I am confident that we will continue to see year on year improvements in our GCSE results and progress more widely across
school.
