Maths is back!

But not quite as we know it

Maths Curriculum

Mrs E Burgess

Teach that topic!

This year we will be dedicating entire half

Year 4 Teacher

terms to each maths topic. This method of

Maths Leader

teaching

allows

richness,

depth

and

enjoyment in each area. Ask your child which

topic they are focussing on this half term!

Introduction
After a long 7 week break, the first week of

At Lyndon Green we believe that every child

term seems to have flown by!

I am very happy to introduce myself as a new
member of the Lyndon Green Junior School
family and your new Maths Leader.
Having taught in a number of schools in both
Solihull and Birmingham Local Authority, I
have

been

overwhelmed

by

the

passion,

commitment and creativity that flows through

the heart of Lyndon Green Junior and am
thrilled to be part of it.
My role as Math Leader, allows me to share
my passion for mathematics and teaching.
Through working with pupils, parents and
staff I aim to continue in shaping our
curriculum

and

developing

No more maths sets!

Lyndon

Green

young learners into confident mathematicians!

can succeed! You will be aware that we are no

longer teaching in maths sets. Whole class
teaching

fosters

high

expectations

and

encourages childrens self belief. It also

allows parents to hear full reports during
parents

night and supports

teachers

in

creating opportunities for children to apply

maths across the curriculum.
What next?
Thats up to you As your new Maths Leader,
I would like to know what you think our school
needs. Throughout the year I intend to host a
number of workshops to support your needs.
If there are any areas of maths you would like
me to focus on, please email me using the
details below. Equally if there are successes,
strengths or any other feedback please do
share these with me personally or via email at:
eburgess@lgjs.co.uk

I look forward to meeting you at the next workshop!
