Dear Mark,

Please allow me to introduce Belinda Bond - the girl with the built-in "go". Your
census of achievers would be incomplete without acknowledging this lady who
was created with equal parts of femininity, energy, ethics and "spark". Indeed, as
an entrepreneur she excels. As testimony to 'her spirited outlook on life she was
honored to have been nominated for two special awards: the Madame C. J.
Walker "Spirit Award" and the Ted Turner "Trumpet Award." Both awards offer
special recognition for those who have overcome severe obstacles to become
successful.

From a very young age Belinda discovered that her success depended primarily
on her own ability to make it happen. She learned early how to discover a need
and find a solution, how to transform "vision into action," and how to give back
more than you receive. That's what enabled her to overcome decades of
prejudice When she was hired as the first African-American cashier at her local
supermarket while still in high school. And that's what prompted her to return the
scholarship she was awarded after painstakingly saving her minimum wage
earnings.

As an adult it was that same burning desire to succeed and help others which
made her a success at one of the nation's largest global telecommunication
companies, Southwestern Bell Corporation (SBC). During her 16 years there she
moved up the ranks qUickly in positions inclUding auditor. accounting supervisor,
marketing manager, competitive analyst, strategic planner, and national sales
account manager. Belinda's efforts netted $40+ million in sales for the company
- and that was the result of just one account.

While working for SSC, Belinda took an active role in the community, serving on
the boards of many local and national organizations. She also joined
Toastmaster's International. and won her first speech ("You've Come a Long
Way, Baby") wowed audiences and earned her several prestigious awards, she
soon began receiving invitations to speak from numerous organizations. For

Belinda, this was yet another way she could give back to her community and
make a difference. Her motivational messages about the importance of having a
vision for a better future and winning in your business and personal life drew
standing-room-only crowds. This success got Belinda thinking. If she could have
such a positive impact on the lives of her fellow St. Louis residents, why not
expand her efforts to a nationwide scope?

In 1991 she left SBC to pursue her life's dream of owning a business. Not only
did Belinda launch her successful motivational speaking practice (now in its 15th
year), but she also began several lucrative businesses. As the president of
Belinda Bond, Inc., she was the first African American to sell her distinct line of
jewelry and accessories to J.C. Penney's, and she built a business
developmenUacquisitions consulting company, The Bond Connection, with an
impressive Fortune 500 clientele including Ameritech, Southwestern Bell,
Monsanto, Colgate Palmolive, and MillenniulTl Digital Media. In addition, Belinda
is a five-star manager in Body Wise International, a nutritional wellness company.
She built this business from an initial start of 25 managers to a national network
of over 1,200 distributors.

A highly sought-after public speaker, Belinda has been the keynote speaker for
many regional and national sales conventions, and has received repeated
invitations to speak on a variety of topics by major companies including SBC and
Essence MagaZine, and national organizations including the NAACP, Global
Telecommunications Forum, National Association of Female Executives, Harlem
boy's Choir, Professional Women in business Systems, Black Women's
Entrepreneur Network, National Association of Black Accountants, and Black
Expo. Recently, she was selected for the prestigious "African American Women
on Tour" an9 invited as keynote speaker ("What You think AbouL.You Bring
About") for the Jackie Joyner Kersee Foundation.
