Task 1: HOW CAN CONSUMERS CONTRIBUTE TO THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF TRINIDAD AND

TOBAGO?

Task 2:

Area of Research: How Can Consumers Contribute To The Sustainable Development Of Trinidad And
Tobago?

The reason I chose this topic was because I watched a local news programme which broadcasted the
story of twenty persons losing their jobs due to industry downsizing. I also noticed several people
quarrelling bitterly on the news to the government about the strain this has been having on their
families. I want to investigate if consumers by their own strength can contribute to the sustainable
development of Trinidad and Tobago

Task 3:

Area of Research: How Can Consumers Contribute To The Sustainable Development Of Trinidad And
Tobago?

Method of Investigation

I decided to do a structured interview with an economic specialist in the area of sustainable

development of my country. I chose this method because I believe this will be the most suitable for
providing expert information on the topic of how consumers can contribute to the sustainable
development of Trinidad and Tobago. He/she will be able to provide me with statistics to further
construct a questionnaire for the victims who have lost their job due to economic cut backs of the
company. I decided to use this second method of investigation to ensure the accuracy of my research
since the specialist will not be a victim of the effects of this and will not be able to offer a view in this
area. The interview was comprised of thirteen questions and was held within 30 minutes. The
questionnaires were distributed to five victims of job loss in each of these five towns including: Princes
Town, San Fernando, Port-of Spain, Chagaunus and Point Fortin
