Introduction
My name is Mahin Ali. Welcome to my Classroom
Management Plan. I hope to teach grades second
through fourth. I would love to teach math and
science. In this classroom management plan I have
included information about myself, my teaching
philosophy, and some artifacts that will give you a
better idea of my classroom management style and
how I hope to run my classroom in the future. I hope
this classroom management plan helps me in the
future when I start teaching. Everything included in this
portfolio are my beliefs and what I hope my own
classroom looks like.I hope to be a kind, positive, and
encouraging role model for my students.
Philosophical
Statement
Classroom management is one of the most crucial
aspects of a classroom. My hope is to create a safe
and positive learning environment for all children. I
would like my classroom to be person-centered instead
of teacher-centered meaning that I want my students
to have just as much responsibility and say in the
classroom as me. Jerome Freiberg supports a person-
centered classroom. He also believes in the 5 themes
of classroom management and cooperative discipline
which are prevention, caring, cooperation,
organization, and community. As a teacher, I want to
be caring, nurturing, understanding, and encouraging. I
want my students to have a safe and positive
environment to thrive and be the best that they can be
First Days
According to Harry and Rosemary Wong, teachers
should be prepared on the first day of school and set a
routine in place. For that reason, I will start the first day
by introducing myself and letting my students know
what I expect of them throughout the school year. We
will start off by creating a set of classroom rules that I
expect each student to follow. I also believe that it is
important to build classroom connections from day one;
I would like my students to get to know one another so
they will create an "all about me" page and share it with
their classmates. Growth is very important for me; I
want to see how much my students grow in one year
so a time capsule is a great idea for that. In the time
capsule, they will write some of their favorite things,
what they are excited about for the school year and
some goals they have for the year. On the last day, we
will see how far they have come!

a set of rules on the first day to show them
what you expect of them for the whole
school year.

Artifact 3: It is important for me to see how much my

students have grown in one school year so they will
fill out the sheat of paper. Once they have completed
it, we will lock them away and open them on the last
day of school to see how far they have come.
Classroom
Environment
According to Richard Curwin and Allen Mendler,
teachers need to convey dignity upon students and
teach them responsibility. Classroom management
should be student centered and responsibility based.
For that reason, I would give my students a flexible
seating option and trust them to make good decisions
about their behavior. I think children should be able to
have the freedom to sit wherever they want tp make
their learning process more enjoyable.
classroom Blueprint

Artifact 1: This is my classroom blueprint. I think it is

important for all student tables to be in the vision of the
teacher. I also believe that children should have a space of
their own when they have completed assignments so in the
corner there is a rug with beanbags and a sofa for my
students.
Where do you want to sit?

Artifact 2: It is important to give children flexible

seating options; it will help them learn better if
they are sitting where they want to as opposed to
where they are forced to sit.
Classroom
policies/
classroom
procedures
According to Jerome Freiberg, teachers must shift from
a teacher-centered classroom to a person-centered
one. Meaning that we should give students more
responsibility in the classroom. It is a great idea to give
students management positions in the classroom such
as line leader, librarian, pet helper, etc. This will give
children responsibility and it will make them excited
and feel special about their jobs. Another great idea is
to have children create a classroom constitution. By
having them create a set of rules for the class, they are
more likely to follow it.
daily schedule

Artifact 1: A daily schedule will allow students

to keep track of their day by knowing when
each lesson will begin and end

Artifact 2: Classroom jobs will give

students a sense of responsibility
and belonging. It will also help the
class run smoothly
class constitution

Artifact 3: Students are more likely to

follow rules if they come up with and
write the rules themselves.
What did you miss?

Artifact 4: This is a great way for

students to keep track of what they
missed and so i don't have 50 students
asking me what they missed.
Discipline
System
According to B.F Skinner, learning occurs through
rewards and punishments. Positive reinforcement
means giving children something desirable for good
behavior. I believe that children should be rewarded
for positive behavior. By offering rewards students
will work hard to improve their behavior. Noise lever
monitor is a great way to show students how loud or
how quietly they should be talking. Another great
idea is attention getters; the teacher says something
such as "class, class" and the students reply "yes,
yes." This is a great classroom management
strategy to get the attention of my students.
Are you too loud?

Artifact 1: Noise level monitor chart is

important to keep children speaking at an
appropriate level at all times.
Behavior chart

Artifact 2: This behavior chart will hold students

accountable for their behavior and help them
improve their behavior to avoid calling their parents
Attention getters

Artifact 3: An attention getter is a great way to

get everyone's attention at once and it will also
help me transition my students to the next task

Artifact 4: This is a great way to help improve the

behavior of my students. By offering rewards
they will want to improve their behavior
Student
Motivation
Carol Allred believes that their is a positive way of
doing everything. In my classroom, I really want to
encourage my students everyday to be the best
that they can be. Positive and encouraging notes
are a great way to do that! Another great idea is to
put up a growth mindset poster in the classroom to
remind students to always work as hard as they
can because if they put themselves in a mindset
that they can't do it then they never will.
growth mindset

Artifact 1: Have children focus on their

growth rather than their failure will help
them in the long run. This will be a reminder
for students to work hard and grow rather
than being in a fixed mindset.
words of encouragement

Artifact 2: Encouragement notes are a great way

to promote student motivation. Little notes would
be a great idea to pass around while they are
working to encourage them to keep going.
Student
Engagement
Jacob Kounin focused on a teacher's ability to affect
student behavior through instructional management.
He thinks teachers should have good control of their
classrooms. Classroom buddies is a great way to
keep students engaged and talking about the lesson.
This is better than simply teaching a lesson because
it will also give them a chance to talk to each other
about it which will help them understand better. I will
give my students "brain breaks" which will be 10
minutes long; we will pull sticks out of the cup and it
will say things like "do five jumping jacks and sit back
down." This is a great way to give them a much
needed break and when it is time to go back to doing
work, they will go back better and stronger.

Artifact 2: Everyone needs a break sometimes.

This is a great way to have students take a break
from learning and by giving them a little break they
will be more engaged for the rest of the day.
