Lab Outcomes:
ADC is a device that converts an analog signal to digital number. ADC is stand for analog to
digital converter.
The processes of converting signals from analog form to digital form involve two operations:
1. Sample the signal
2. Quantize the signal to the resolution the A/D can represent with n-bits
Block diagram of ADC0804 are shown in Figure 1. The detail of the processes will be covered in
your lecture class.
Resolution 8 bits
Input Channels 1
Power Down No
Input Sample/Hold No
This lab will be conducted for 1 week. Your task for this lab is to configure ADC0804 and
interfacing with MyRIO. You are required to use an analog signal from MyRIO and converted it to
digital output using ADC0804. This output is marked as DO01. Then compare this signal with the
existing digital output from MyRIO, marked as DO02. Discuss the differences between these two
digital signals. Detail of the circuit diagram will be discussed during the lab. Happy
experimenting!!
You are required to submit a 10-pages technical report on how to implement analog to digital
conversion using ADC0804. The report should consist of:
1. Learning Outcomes
2. Background Knowledge
3. List of required components, equipments and software
4. Circuit diagrams and analysis
5. Step-by-step activities
6. Learning summary
7. References
