Good afternoon Everyone, as the affirmative side of the retraction of Jose Rizal, I would like to

point out first some situation that have lead to the retraction Document. The truth was that
Rizal was given a retraction document 2 years before his execution. Rizal didn’t agree of course
on the condition as he chose to stay on the house of a certain military man, named captain
Ricardo Carcinero . After years of exile in Dapitan, he established his own life there wherein he
felt that he wasn’t in Exile at all. His stay in Dapitan according to his letter to Blumentritt that
Rizal found peace described it as a heaven of a bliss. Rizal owned two houses of heavy materials
and a business dapitan wherein he engaged in fishing, copra, and hemp industries. After some
time in Dapitan he met a girl named Josephine Bracken and fell in love with her after a month
of seeing each other they have agreed to get married but Rizal has to present a retraction
document to the Archbishop of Cebu. He stated the following conditions that he shall gain his
freedom, return all the properties being confiscated by the Spaniards, and be a good example
of religion but was denied of the ff. conditions. So to connect the facts that I’ve given you to
why Rizal would sign the Retraction letter for the beneficiary reason. #1 His will and inheritance
would be given to his loved one rather than being confiscated by the Spaniards, #2 He would
have a peace of mind that he shall goes through this suffering alone and his family shall remain
untouched and safe, and #3 As a Catholic he has the benefit to
