Information literacy is defined as being "able to recognize when information is

needed and having the ability to locate, evaluate and use effectively the needed
information. For example, the teacher gave the student an assignment about the
pathophysiology of pneumonia. The student doesnt know the answer so went to
library and decided to look sources of information to be able to answer his
assignment. After reading the book at the libriary, the student now knows the answer.
He decides to assess and organize the concept learned to apply it to his homework.
While Computer literacy is the set of competencies represented by being able to
understand computer basics and use a variety of applications to manipulate data and
create documents.   Example, I had my friend help me with my computer problem
because he was an expert in computer literacy and would take care of the problem.
The importance of developing information literacy skills is enhancement of the
nurse's ability to use current best available research literature in the conduct of
evidence-based practice with subsequent improvement in nursing sensitive patient
outcomes. it promotes problem solving approaches and thinking skills – asking
questions and seeking answers, finding information, forming opinions, evaluating
sources and making decisions fostering successful learners, effective contributors,
confident individuals and responsible citizens.Nursing educators are beginning to
realize that computer literacy has become a survival skill for the profession. They
understand that literacy must be at a level that assures the ability to manage and
control the flood of available information and provides an openness and awareness of
future technologic possibilities.

3. Nurse educators' use of technology in teaching continues to expand at a dizzying
pace. It is hard to imagine planning a course or class without thinking about
technology that might be used to engage students in learning and meet other
instructional goals.  They create Web sites, podcasts, videos, and other
multimedia.Technology also exposes students to clinical scenarios they would not
encounter in their practice and helps to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
With technology, we can add reality to a scenario and make traditional case studies
more realistic. Encourage students to create forms, quiz, and polls related to your
academic activities with a tool like Google Forms.Use  Hippo Video to help you
record digital whiteboard explainers, classroom activities, peer presentations as
videos. Additionally, you can share them with your class via Gdrive, Google
Classroom or YouTube right away.
