Wouldn’t You Love to Stamp on Wood?

Last Christmas I shared

photos on Instagram
and on Facebook of
some stamped wood
projects that I had
created for past
Christmases.

Everyone was asking for

instructions … so here
they are in plenty of
time before the holidays
for you to practice and
gather your supplies.
Be prepared; working on
wood is pretty addictive.
I have employed very
basic techniques, keep-
ing these projects easy
to duplicate, so you can
create many to use as
gifts as well as to decor-
ate your own home. Of
course, your wood pieces
could be decorated for
any season. Simply
change up the stamps
and the text, and you
will have a full year of
creating.

Take some fall flowers destined
for your scrapbook page, and put
them on your wall this season!
Embellish an IKEA shadow box
frame, using Elizabeth Craft
Designs dies, some mini brads,
and twine, to make this fun, string
art–inspired home decor project.
I adore Elizabeth Craft Designs floral
die (Figure 1). They are delicate yet
super easy to create. These flowers can
be made with any papers, but I specif-
ically LOVE to use my own monoprints
created with the Gel Press Printing
Plate (Figure 2). I’m often asked what
I do with the papers I make. Here’s
one fantastic example: I use them
with craft dies. The layered flower
dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs
lend particularly well to monoprints
because of the paper’s inherently
random colour and pattern. I find
they look more artful, almost natural.

VASE DETAILING
1. Draw a small vase in pencil on a
piece of white paper, and then cut it
out. If you’re not comfortable drawing
a vase yourself, search Google for
vase clipart and print a shape that
interests you, and then cut it out to
create a template.
2. Use a pencil to trace your vase
template on the backside of a piece of
cardstock, and then pierce holes with
a straight pin at the curved points as
shown.
3. Turn the cardstock over, and attach
the mini brads through the pierced
holes on the right side of the cardstock.
Butterfly the brads loosely closed. Do
not secure them tightly, as that will 1 2
make it harder to string the twine.
4. Wrap an end of the baker’s twine
around one of the brads, and weave
the twine around each adjacent brad
to create the vase frame. When finish-
ing, wrap around the final brad an
extra time, and snip off the extra with
a pair of scissors.
5. Arrange your leaves and flowers
in a bouquet, and secure them to your
vase piece with Dodz by Scrapbook 3 4

Bible Washi Tape
Washi tapes have flooded the
creative world over the past few
years and for good reason. These
delightful little rolls of decorated
tape provide endless options for
adding colourful patterns to any
project. Bible artists especially like
washi tape for how thin it is and
how it adds colour without bleed-
ing through the pages of our
Bibles. My only caution is to try
to avoid becoming addicted to

TINTING WITH TEXTURE PASTE

I love adding layers of colour and texture to any project. For me, tinting texture paste is fast and easy. Adding a little drop

1. Start with a base of Super Stock cardstock. Gather some texture 2. Scoop the desired amount of texture paste, and put it right onto the

mix with the pallet until it’s completely mixed.

4. Place the layering stencil right over the Super Stock cardstock. 5. Evenly apply a coat of tinted texture paste, being careful not to shift
the stencil. Once applied, allow it to dry, creating the perfect
foundation of colour.

Every leaf speaks bliss to me,

Fluttering from the autumn tree.
~ Emily Bronte

Cooler days and warmer sweaters. Autumn brings a palette of earth tones and inspires us
to create with hues of amber, crimson, and terracotta. These beautiful colours infuse our
scrapbook pages and cards with a cozy warmth. Long walks in the crunchy leaves and
crisp air, and the smell of freshly baked pumpkin pies makes autumn feel like home.
