Precondition:
Prepare the system setup for two workspaces with different VB versions and ensure both
workspaces are running with same application
1 (old version would be origin workspace and new version would be target workspace)
Example:
Origin Workspace - 1.2.5.6
Target Workspace - 1.2.6.26

2 Launch View builder in origin workspace


Launch Symbol Editor :

Prepare predefined symbol in origin workspace and publish
4 Use the predefined symbol in SLD process diagram and Process pictures
5 Save and Export typicals from origin workspace
6 Switch to target workspace (new workspace) and launch View builder
7 Import the typical exported from origin workspace to target workspace
8 Predefined symbol should be added and listed in elements list after import
9 Save and Export typicals from target workspace
10 Switch to origin workspace (old workspace) and launch View builder
11 Import the typical exported from target workspace to origin workspace

Action Steps

Launch the lower version Viewbuilder(1.2.5.6) from SYS600 Tool launcher and Import dialog shows a proposed func
Import SYS600 functional structure.
Create a Typical bay in Extended Work pace
In Navigation Pane Click on Typical & Open bay SLD/Process Diagram
Open symbol editor & Click on Edit Publish
Select any symbol that you wanna add on bay SLD/Process Diagram.
for suppose say CB
Make some changes such as increase or decrease the thickness of the line or by rotating any line in the symbol
Save the changes & Publish the edited symbol
Add the Modified CB symbol to the Typical bay SLD/Process Diagram
Create a Process Picture from the SLD/Process Diagram
Click on Save,Close & Open the typical bay
Click on Data Exchange button
Click on Export Typicals button
Chose the folder to export the typical & Click on the folder
Launch the higher version Viewbuilder(1.2.6.6) from SYS600 Tool launcher
Click Data Exchange button
Click on Import Typicals button Ie. importing a Typical with predefined Symbols
Select the Typical bay SLD/Process Diagram
CB symbol should appear or update as per the Current Workspace symbol in SLD/Process Diagram ,Mapping of
datapoints
should be linked automatically
Repeat step 12,13,14 in higher version View Builder
Launch the lower version Viewbuilder(1.2.5.6) from SYS600 Tool launcher
Repeat step 16,17
"Import" is highlighted if database is correct
Expected Result

Import functional dialog popsup


Import button will get enable if no errors are found
You can find the added bay by clicking on Typical on the Navigation tree
Selected bay should get opened
Symbol editor dialog box will appear

Symbol editor will get opened with selcted symbol Ie CB


Changes should be reflected in the Symbol editor window
Edited symbol symbol should reflect in the Elements window
Modified symbol should be added on SLD/Process Diagram
Process Picture should be created Sucessfully
Changes made in bay should remain the same
Data Exchange dialog should be opened
The button should navigate to Export window selection
Typicals should get saved on the selected folder successfully
View Builder should launch sucessfully
Data Exchange dialog should be opened
The button should navigate to Import window selection
CB symbol should be imported successfully
Older Symbol Ie CB to be updated to the newer Symbol Template Version
in my workspace

View Builder should launch sucessfully


Import unsuccessful dialog box should appear with errors
Ensure there is no duplicated objects in same structure

Steps
Launch View builder workspace
Under Station or bay Click on Symbol Editor( For say Disconnector)

Edit the existing Symbol by adding primitives on the tool bar like (Line,Squre
Arc,Circle
Add text from the tool bar to the existing symbol
Rotate the added primitivies in the exisitng symbol by changing the angle
Change the position of the symbol by adjusting the Height, width & Angle
Edit the existing symbol by changing the transperncy & stroke settings
Perform Undo & Redo,Delete operations from the tool bar
save the changes ,rename & Click on publish

Use the same symbol in SLD/Proces Diagram & Process Picture . If required from Element window

Adding expressions to the symbol in the Symbol Editor
Steps
Launch View builder workspace
Under Station or bay Click on Symbol Editor( For say Disconnector)

In order toddit the existing Symbol :


Double Click on the symbol line in the window
For adding expression:
Select the expression property from the down side of the Symbol Editor window For
suppose(Fill,Stroke,Stroke think ness)
then Click on edit to add the expression .
Add the Buit in Variable inside the buit in function.
Check for parasing errors
Click on save
save the changes ,rename & Click on publish

Use the same symbol in SLD/Proces Diagram & Process Picture . If required from Element window
