According to the client, the last work he attended was being a “cabo” at the age of 54, before
the ischemic stroke incident, which lasted for 6 years. The client earned mostly 200 pesos a day,
however, he manages to earn more than P1000 when his “pataya” hits the draw. Lately this September,
he operated again as “cabo” but does not attend on it daily.
Prior to his last work, the client also served as a construction worker for a year at the age of 42.
And by the age of 45 to 48 years old, the client became a poultry supply vendor and earned P4000 a
month.
Recently, the source of client’s financial support is from his three siblings. Two of the client’s
siblings from Italy gives 2000 pesos each monthly mainly for his medications and 100 pesos everyday
from his other sibling, which is also his neighbor, allocated for snacks.

As to the expenses of the client from his total allowance of 7000 pesos, 2250 is allocated for his
medication and 2250 pesos is contributed to the total expenses within the household. The client then
has a saving of 2500 pesos. He further explained that he shares his savings whenever someone needs it.

WET MARKET GROCERY ELECTRIC BILL GAS LOAD GAS (LPG) SCHOOL RELATED FEE

The monthly total expenses of the family including the client is 11870 pesos. The client shares
2250 pesos; the remaining 9620 comes from his brothers and sister-in-law. The family goes to the wet
market for food (such as meat, vegetables and fruits) which they spend a total of 6400 pesos. The family
allocated 3000 pesos for monthly groceries (such as coffee, sugar, biscuits, snacks and condiments). The
family allocates 980 pesos for regular monthly bill, 400 pesos for gasoline, 400 pesos for load, 780 pesos
for LPG tank that usually last for 2 months, and 300 pesos for school related expenses (such as
notebooks, paper, art materials).
According to the client, finances are adequate to support his need. Since financial support is
directed to the client, he manages to share with his brothers and sister-in-law for daily expenses for
meals and groceries. The client also explained that he does not worry his ability to support his own
health care because he believed that his siblings and relative within the compound is present to help
him.
The client was not able to utilize any health insurance during his hospitalization. As explained by
the sister-in-law, the Philhealth membership of the client is inactive. Due to lack of resources, the family
members sought help from the provincial government of Ilocos Norte mainly to Bongbong Marcos and
Imee Marcos, City Health Office, and Department of Social Welfare and Development. A total of almost
P30000 was shouldered by the sponsors and other P8000 for diagnostic procedures is the only expenses
paid by the client’s family.
Together with the client in one roof is two of his brothers, sister-in-law, and three nephews. The
house has 3 rooms which the client and one of his brothers has their own room while his other
brother and his own family occupy the third room. The house was owned by them since it is
their family house. The client also considers his two brothers and sister-in-law as his primary
care givers.
