the technology needs of these teachers, a needs development survey was given. This survey was
optional for all staff, and 19 teachers completed it. Of those 19 teachers, the majority desired to
learn more about screencasting. Due to our district being fully virtual this year, there is a felt
need to improve the methods of teaching our students online. The goal of my instruction is to
teach the teachers how to screencast and how to use it to teach online.
Learner Analysis
prekindergarten teachers, 6 kindergarten teachers, 2 first grade teachers, 3 second grade teachers,
2 third grade teachers, 2 fourth grade teachers, and 1 fifth grade teacher. Of these 19 teachers, 2
are preschool intervention teachers, 1 is an intellectual disability teacher, and 2 are special
education teachers. The teachers rated their technology skills from below basic to proficient.
One teacher claimed to be below basic, eight teachers were basic, one teacher was advanced, and
The only prerequisite skill the teachers need to benefit from this instruction is to have a
basic knowledge of how to work the internet. The teachers will need to know how to download
Task Analysis
To have the teachers understand how to screencast and how to use it in their virtual
classrooms, I feel that a procedural analysis is most appropriate. Screen casting is about being
able to follow a series of steps to create a final project. A procedural analysis is the best way to

Development of Assessments
I have designed the workshop to allow for a summative assessment to be given after both
screencasting programs are taught. This assessment consists of the teachers using one of the two
screencasting platforms to record a short one to two minute screencast. The teachers will then
add at least one question to the screencast and upload it to the Its Learning platform. The
This sequence builds on concept related sequencing. The lessons will follow logical prerequisite

Initial Presentation: First, the teachers will be shown examples of screencast scripts. They will
be shown a complex script and a simple script, so they can see the importance of having a script.
I will then demonstrate how to use Active Presenter to record a screencast, edit it, and add a
question. Then, I will demonstrate how to upload the file to the Its Learning platform. After

Assessment Strategies: The teachers will use either Active Presenter or Screencast-o-matic to
record an instructional video. They will then add a question to the screencast and upload it to Its
Learning.

Gaining Learners’ Attention: I will begin the workshop by asking the teachers what they will do
if they must be out during instruction while we teach virtually. After a few answers, I will
explain that screencasting can make asynchronous teaching easier for them.

they all do. They must also need to understand how to download a program. Links to both
