RTI

RTI is response to instruction. RTI helps target those students who are at risk. Those students who score
below bench mark on reading and writing assessments will be referred for RTI There are three levels to
RTI tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3.

Levels of RTI

RTI Level 1- This is the first level where students are learned research based core curriculum. This is
considered general education. All students are learning the core based curriculum.

RTI Level 2- This is where students need additional help. Students in this level have scored below bench
level on reading and writing assessments. Students in this level will be placed in groups of three or four
other students having similar struggles and receive additional support for up to thirty minutes a day.
Students in this group may also receive individual support up to thirty minutes a day. This level may also
be considered early intervention strategies.

RTI Level 3- This is where students are not being successful in RTI level 2. These students need more
intensive intervention strategies. Students in this level may be evaluated for special education. These
students will have daily support.

RTI Activities

First grade students will be learning Phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency (high frequency words),
fluency with connected text, vocabulary, and reading comprehension
