LAB REPORT : MEMBRANE SEPARATION

1.0 ABSTRACT

Dissolved oxygen is the amount of oxygen, O2 dissolve in the water which oxygen enters the
water through direct absorption from the atmosphere by rapid movement. The purpose of this
experiment is to examine the dissolved oxygen in the lake water sample so that it must
comply with the Malaysian Standard of Water Quality. A specific method which is Azide
Winkler Method was used to carry out the experiment at 20 mL and 100mL using the 60mL
BOD bottle and 300mL BOD bottle respectively. Then, the samples were titrated using
Sodium Thiosulphate after the reagent is added into samples until the solution reached out to
the endpoint. The results for the lake water sample at 100mL is 1.6 mg/L and at 20mL is
7.3mg/L. Therefore, the objective has successfully achieved and experiment is successfully
done as the dissolved oxygen for 100mL complies with Malaysian Water Quality Standard
while 20mL are not complying.
