CONCLUSION

There are two main objectives of this experiment which are to determine the dissolve oxygen (DO)
and also five days biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) of different water samples. The purpose of
carry out BOD experiment is to determine the relative oxygen requirements of waste waters,
effluent and polluted water. Three water samples collected from three different places. The first
water sample was collected from river at Simpang Ampat and the second sample was collected
from river at Cendana Putih. The third sample was collected from Tasik Tampin. The entire
samples were taken from drainage system but different source flows into the water samples. From
the result that obtained, the reading of dissolves oxygen of the entire samples after 5 days in
incubator were decrease compared to dissolves oxygen before. Due to that it showed that living
organisms such as microorganisms had used up the oxygen in the water samples within 5days. The
highest reading of biochemical oxygen demand is 1.96 mg/L shown by the diluted samples which
contains 100ml of water samples.

. During the experiment, there were several errors that might occur and should be taken as
precaution steps in order to achieve the best result. After all, the objectives of this experiment are
all achieved.

RECOMMENDATION

There are several precautions that should be taken dilution had finished, the diluted samples should
be closed by the stoppers tightly and sealed them in order to avoid diluted sample being exposed
to the air which can affected the reading of dissolves oxygen. Next, while conducting this
experiment in order to get correct reading of the content of water samples. Water samples should
be preserved after taking the sample at the sampling point and was placed in the dark bottle which
sunlight could not be penetrated.
