The course accounting principles is a discipline that is emerged with a concept of creating
similar recording system of business transactions. The course also covers accounting systems
for different types of business organizations such as sole proprietorship, corporations and
partnership. It also tries to address some of the basic principles that are known as a binding rule
for accounting reporting and communication. The course also covers the basic contorting
system of the most vulnerable assets such as cash and receivables. Totally the course provides a
pure glance for a complete recording, reporting and communicating financial reports
Course objectives
At the end of the course students are expected to know the following:
The basic accounting principles
Recording of transactions
Prepare a work sheet both for sole proprietorship and corporation
Record transaction for merchandising enterprise
Understand the use of special journals
The controlling of cash
Contorting of receivables
Test 1 = 15%
Test 2 = 15%
Assignment = 15%
Attendance = 5%
Final exam = 50%
COURSE POLICY
All students are expected to abide by the code of conduct of the University Academic legislation
throughout this course. Academic dishonesty, including cheating, fabrication, and plagiarism will not be
tolerated and will be reported to concerned bodies for action.
ATTENDANCE: Attendance will be observed. A student who has missed more than 20% attendance
shall be given a grade of IA (Incomplete Attendance) and be required to provide acceptable reasons for
failure to attend classes. Students who notify me in advance of an absence will be treated
sympathetically. Cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices should be switched off or on quiet
mode when in the classroom. Anyone observed texting, web-surfing, or otherwise engaged in activities
unrelated to the class will be asked to leave the classroom.
EXPECTATIONS: I expect that every student will prepare for and attend every class session. Students
are responsible for everything covered in class. In addition to class time, students are expected to spend
at least 67 hours studying course material. Study questions are provided to guide your studying. I am
ready and eager to help you individually during office hours or by appointment. Please bring all notes,
calculator and other necessary materials with you when you come for classes and exams accordingly.
