COMMON AREAS IN TERMS OF ACTIVITIES THAT IS DONE BY AN NDP

 Overall, all the NDPs that were interviewed defined health as the state of an individual that is
devoid of diseases and is physically, mentally, psychologically, and emotionally. Health for them
is also the education done to individuals in order for them to maintain their wellbeing.

2. COMMON DIFFERENCES OF NDP COMPARED TO OTHER FIELDS

 Larger client coverage.


 Encounters all ages in practice
 Involved in counselling and personal matters of clients
 Focus primary prevention.

3. COMMON SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES OF A NDP

 Has basic nursing skills in order to provide care to clients


 Interpersonal communication skills
 Conducts health education and training
 Assists in the preparation, analysis, and consolidation of reports and community activities.
 Able to organize and implement health programs in the community

4. COMMON ADVANTAGES

 Fixed duty hours and no night shift.


 Well compensated compared to those nurses working under private institutions
 More time flexibility due to scheduled programs and activity in the community compared to the
toxic environment of hospitals
 Advocate with local, state and federal authorities to improve access to health services for
underserved communities.

5. COMMON DISADVANTAGE

 Remoteness of the location assigned


 Scarcity of resources
 Unable to adjust to working conditions due to changing locations.
 Do not get to practice advance clinical nursing skills
 Weather, transportation, roads are challenges when implementing programs
