PAYAR, Patricia Verzosa

BSA 2-1

1. Explain why a business analyst is important during business planning, process innovation, and business problem
solving.

The enterprise of business planning, process innovation, and business problem solving gives rise to the need to understand
the surrounding problems and opportunities in the organization. Business analysts come up with solutions derived from
their knowledge in business practices; industry domains; current and emerging business concepts, strategies and practices;
how various lines of business within the organization interact; and business concepts for organizing enterprise knowledge.
Business analysts also administer skills in areas such as business strategy; business process engineering; business analysis;
business modeling, as well as various generic industry reference models; and business concepts, rules, policies and
terminology. Such skills and knowledge are vital in fulfilling the role of a business analyst which is to study the context of
the requirements and present solutions that enable the organization to come up with efficient strategies for business
planning, process innovation, and business problem solving.

2. Define requirement and give an example.

Within the context of business analysis, a requirement is: (1) a condition or capability needed by a stakeholder to solve a
problem or achieve an objective; (2) a condition or capability that must be met or possessed by a solution or solution
component to satisfy a contract, standard, specification, or other formally imposed documents; (3) a documented
representation of a condition or capability as in (1) or (2). An example of a stakeholder requirement is an accurate
monthly sales forecast of a merchandising business.

3.Explain why strategic planning is crucial in every aspect of a business. What is the relationship between a business
architect and strategic planning?

Strategic planning controls every aspect of a business and visualizes its goals while guiding the organization in the
attainment of that vision. It focuses the executive team on the organization’s reason for being and provides the foundation
to select and prioritize programs and projects.

A business architect should be able to contribute solutions and ensure that the programs and supporting projects to be
made are fully aligned with the overall vision of the business.

4.Aside from the 3 themes mentioned in the discussion, give a sample situation wherein strategic themes define new
business opportunities.

o Cater to a younger demographic or appeal to niche audiences through creating collaborations with world-famous
artists.
o Dominate the ecommerce market by establishing partnerships with tech companies.
o Conquer a new market, upgrading brand image and attracting new customers by providing the best quality out of
people's money.

5.Why is it important for a business to be consistent in doing enterprise analysis activities?

Consistency in doing enterprise analysis activities, as a logical result, ensures consistency of the management functions,
so that all decisions made based on identified business opportunities help build the business architecture framework
according to the appropriate organizational goals as determined by the optimum project investment path for the enterprise.
