Product Release Letter
Prerequisite for this release - products:
AVEVA Licensing System 1.0 and an appropriate License File
(N.B. This product version does NOT work with AVEVA Flexman)
ALS incorporates a Dual Licensing System (DLS). This means that the License Server will support
license requests from existing Flexman clients and new ALS clients. Therefore it is best practice to
install ALS for all AVEVA clients (AVEVA E3D™, AVEVA PDMS, AVEVA Marine, AVEVA Global
Server) when using AVEVA Global Server 12.1.SP3 or later.
To use AVEVA Global Server, you will now need to request a new ALS License File from AVEVA
(you will need to provide details of your system) and install the server onto your network.
If the AVEVA License client has not been set up, or has been configured incorrectly, the daemon
will display the following error:-
If the AVEVA License server is not available, i.e. it has not been set-up or the Daemon cannot
establish a connection, the following error will occur:-
In the example above, two license servers have been defined, both of which are unavailable.

Supersedes:
This release supersedes the full release 52106 AVEVA Global Server 12.1.SP3.
This release installs AVEVA Global Server only. To install AVEVA Global Services, please refer to
the AVEVA Global Services installation and documentation. AVEVA E3D™ now automatically
installs the Global client WCF enabled, HTTP protocol, no security enabled. AVEVA Hull &
Outfitting 12.1 and AVEVA PDMS 12.1 install the client according to the feature choice in the
install UI. For more information on Global configuration please see the AVEVA Global WCF
Installation and Configuration guide on the documentation for each relative product.
List of Enhancements
This release includes the following functional enhancements:
Description
Supports 12.1.SP4 as well as E3D 1.1 database schemas
Propagates the new Datasheet files, including Revisions (but see note below).
Note that any 12.1.SP2 datasheets will need to be upgraded to SP4 before they can be propagated
Development Testing
Developers have carried out unit testing of each enhancement and/or fix in the development
environment to verify that any new functionalities have been correctly implemented and identified
defects have been corrected.
Regression tests have been run in the development environment to verify that enhancements
and/or fixes have not adversely affected the integrity of the product.
System Testing
Independent system testing has been carried out on the product, as released, to verify that it
installs correctly in all supported configurations and that product functionality operates as
intended, subject to any known exceptions listed below.
Acceptance Testing
This document has been prepared before Acceptance Testing. This product release will be
subjected to an acceptance test by AVEVA’s Training and Product Support.
Any exceptions found during Acceptance Testing or after release will be reported in the Product
Release Latest Update Note on AVEVA's support web site
