1 Introduction
This document describes the RBS 6000 external alarms and explains the
external alarm supervision function, thereby leading to a better understanding
of how to interpret fault codes and localize faults.
Note: The external alarms supervision functions are used and active only in
the support system primary node.
This section describes the RBS 6000 external alarms supervision function.
External normally open or normally closed alarm circuits are connected to one
of the alarm inlets. External alarms inlets up to a maximum of 64 are supported.
During RBS installation the RBS external alarm inlets are configured to handle
external alarms, using the Operation and Maintenance Terminal (OMT).
When smoke alarm is installed on SCU, the OMT assists to set up following:
The alarm inlets are monitored and any change of state on the alarm inlet
results in an alarm report from the RBS to the Base Station Controller (BSC).
The alarm report contains alarm identity, alarm severity, and alarm data. The
BSC can request this information from the RBS to determine which external
alarms have been activated.
An alarm indicator comes on if one or more alarms are activated. The OMT can
also be used to monitor the external alarm status.
PFU alarms and smoke detector alarms can not be defined at the same time.
