How the Elephant Got Its Big Ears

by Emilee, Shelby, Terr'e

Long ago in a place far far away lived an elephant who lived at

Earless Land. He wanted big ears so no one would laugh at him.

He came up to a gorilla and said, "Can you stretch out my ears?"

The gorilla did, and the elephant was very thankful. The elephant went

to all the other elephants and said, "Look at my ears! Look at my big

ears!"

Now he’s got big ears and his friends won't laugh at him. So then

he went to the store and got gooey, green stuff. When he went back he

saw them asleep. So he put the gooey stuff under the elephants and when

they woke up they had big ears because they kept stretching.

So from that day on he had big ears and the other elephants had

big ears. Then he lived happily ever after at Earless Land.

How the Giraffe Got Its Spots
by Alexis, Brittaney, Logan

Many years ago a man named Scott
was walking in the forest. He saw a giraffe
that he called Sunny. He named him Sunny
because he was bright. The giraffe was so
bright the forest ranger ran into a tree. Then
he put on his sunglasses. "We have to do
something about this brightness!" he said to
his men.

Scott got so tired of seeing Sunny’s

bright color he decided to get brown paint
and paint Sunny with brown spots. He
wanted to cool down his color so he can
hide from animals. Sunny will no longer hurt
Scott’s eyes.

Now all the giraffes got in line to get

painted, but he ran out of his paint. There
was only enough for two because they were
so big. For each giraffe it took twenty spots,
for both that would make 40 spots.

From that day on that’s why giraffes

have their spots.
How Bulls Got Their Horns
by James, Matthew, Micah

Long ago in a land far away there was a farm. There were bulls and

cows. The bulls did not want to look like a sissy with no horns. So at

night they left when the farmer went to bed.

The bull went to the city and he asked the animals if they had

horns. Not one animal had horns! So the bull went to the woods, and the

bullfrog saw the bull.

The bullfrog asked the bull why are you so sad? I want some

horns and I don’t want to look like a sissy. I want to look different than

cows. The bullfrog told the bull he can have his horns because he

doesn’t want them anymore. This made the bull very happy.

The bull returned back to the barn before the farmer woke up. And

that’s why bulls have horns and bull frogs do not have horns.

Why the King Cobra Got Its Long Tail

by Connor, Hannah, Ricardo, Connor

Many years ago, a King Cobra was one inch long. Everyone

called him shorty and smally man. He was sad because they called him

that. He was looking for friends and cousins.

A few weeks passed and King Cobra went to visit Mighty Joe.

Mighty Joe accidentally stepped on King Cobra with his toe. The Mighty

Joe stepped on him until he was 20 feet long.

When he had got his long tail he was late for the party. Everyone

was laughing at him so he slapped them in the mouth so that they would

shut up and they got quiet. Then the King Cobra slithered away. No one

bothered him again but they were still his family so he did not hurt them.

The King Cobras and all sorts of other snakes have very long tails.

Now for that day on King Cobras have long bodies.

How the Horse Got Big Feet

by Colby, Erika, Kraig

Long ago in a place far away there was a baby horse that had big

feet. He lived with his mother. He is wild. A beaver helped the little

horse.

The horse and the beaver took a walk up the mountain. And all of

a sudden rocks came tumbling down the mountain. The horse A.J. got

his foot stuck in between a rock because his feet were pointy and sharp.

A.J. is at a farm and they are getting to eat food. So the horse got

big feet so the horses wanted to get big feet like A.J.

To this day forward all the horses wanted to have big feet.

How the Tiger Got Its Stripes

by Austin, Ciara, Mackenzie

Long ago in a forest far away, there was a tiger that had no stripes.

His name was Stripes. This was a serious problem! He didn’t have

stripes. The tiger finally got out of his house. He didn’t make a good
choice.

When he almost gave up he said, "I’m going to go find a shady

spot," but he didn’t know that sticky maple sap was on the tree. He

leaned up against it and stripes of sticky maple sap stuck on his coat. He

was thirsty, so he went to a river.

And then Stripes looked in the water. He had stripes! Stripes went

to his friends' house and told them how he got his stripes. They thought

that it was amazing! So they tried it.

From that day on tigers had stripes.

Why Bunnies Have Soft, Cotton Tales

by Alex, Jessica, Ryan

Long ago in a cotton field faraway there was a young bunny

named Fluffy. She lived in a burrow next to an oak tree in New Jersey.

She liked to go to the cotton field a lot. She sometimes stayed there all
night to sleep!

One day while Fluffy was playing in the cotton field and all of a

sudden she felt something on her bottom. It felt soft like a cotton ball!

She looked back and saw a cotton plant on her bottom. She tugged and

tugged and she finally got it off. But only the plant! The cotton ball was

still on!

She goes home to eat dinner and her parents see the cotton on

Fluffy’s bottom. They asked her and she told them. She took her friend

and family to the cotton field to get tails like Fluffy.

No longer can an owl catch rabbits' tails because they will have a

mouth full of cotton, and they can just go back to the cotton field and get

more.

And that is why bunnies have soft cotton tails.
