1. Packets and Routers.
a. What is the difference between the two?
b. Give an example on how to they work in sending messages.
c. What Is the main purpose of routers?

a). Packets are created at Layer of 3 of the network and allow

information to be exchanged between different LANs, typically via
routers. A router interconnects small networks (LANs) together allowing
for information exchange on a much larger scale using IP addresses for
packet forwarding instead of MAC addresses.
b). Packets- carry the data in the protocols that the Internet uses:
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Each packet is
then sent off to its destination by the best available route – a route that
might be taken by all the other packets in the message or by none of the
other packets in the message.
Router- When we send messages through a network we don’t actually
want everyone on the network to receive them. In a network of
computers, certain computers called “router” do the same thing,
directing messages towards the target computer based on the IP
addresses included in the message.
c).The main purpose of a router is to connect multiple networks and
forward packets destined either for directly-attached networks or more
remote networks.
