1. The following Objectives of Police Planning are enumerated below but you need to fill
in the missing words to make the objective complete and relevant.
1. To increase the chances of success by focusing on results and not so much on the objective.
3. To establish a framework for decision making consistent with the goal of the organization.
Expected in Planning
1. Provide better information for decision-making.
In selection of a course of action among several alternative options, we should have enough
information to be able to identify what is the best decision to choose for planning based on the
values, preference or beliefs of the decision-maker and the knowledge to provide and carry out
the plan more effectively.
2. Help to clarify goals, objectives, priorities.
When an organization has an objective that intends to achieve, planning about achieving will help
in furnishing the set of goals provided in an organization. It’ll help the members to focus on one
area that inclined to the objective and it’ll be inculcated to their way of working in the
organization.

What is Strategic Planning? Reason out why a police administrator should conduct Strategic
Planning in his organization. State the process involved then briefly describe each of them.
Strategic Planning holds many benefits for a police leader. It allows the organization to
proactively affect their future. It enables management to effectively allocate their resources to meet
their future needs. It allows management to hire and train personnel to meet future needs of the
organization and it is a problem solving tool for management.
When you’re creating missions and objectives for the organization, make sure they’re
realistic and measurable. Work with the employees to create goals and objectives for future needs
and discuss how these goals and objectives will be measured and tracked.
Opportunities available to the organization may be pretty clear, while identifying threats
can be more difficult. Speaking with people outside of the organization should give you a good idea
of where it could be heading and if there are any challenges coming. If you can identify a number
of threats and challenges to your organization early on, it puts you in a better position to address
them if and when you encounter them down the road.
As part of the strategic planning process, you’ll examine and analyze the entire
organization. You’ll take a look at what your organization does well and the areas where it still
needs to improve. By identifying your organization’s current strengths and weaknesses, the process
gives the leader and the members an opportunity to improve in the future and become a durable
organization by minimizing risks.
Every organization should identify alternative course of action for its survival and
growth. These are the means by which goals and objectives can be obtained. The procedure
may differ from one organization to other organizations depending upon its size.
After you’ve collected all of the information, it’s time for the development of the strategic
plan. This is when you’ll start putting together the organization’s strategic plan
When reviewing the strategic and tactical plane, it may find that you’re not on track to
meet an objective or goal that had previously set up. Reassess and evaluarte the situation and, if it
need to, discuss the issues with the members. Figure out what went wrong and why the organization
isn’t on pace; maybe the goal was too ambitious or not realistic. Change the goal or objective and
update the action plan to help you get back on track.
Since strategic planning is a continuous process, it’ll repeat again from determining
objectives and missions down to assessing results over and over again.
Police Operational Planning is the act of determining policies and guidelines for police
activities and operations and providing controls and safeguards for such activities and operations in
the department. It may also be the process of formulating coordinated sequence of methodical
activities and allocation of resources to the line units of the police organization for the attainment of
the mandated objectives or goals.
1. Strategies or tactics
Strategy is a broad design or method; or a plan to attain a stated goal or objectives.
Tactics are specific design, method or course of action to attain a particular objective in
consonance with strategy.
2. Procedures
Procedures are sequences of activities to reach a point or to attain what is desired
3. Policies or guidelines

alternative course of action sometimes costly and unpredictable, so the finance management will
need to produce money that beyond the control or coverage of the allocated budget to the plan.
1. Synoptic Approaches
2. Incremental Approach
Incrementalism concludes that long range and comprehensive planning are not only too
difficult, but inherently bad. The problems are seen as too difficult when they are grouped
together and easier to solve when they are taken one at a time and broken down into
gradual adjustments over time.
3. Transactive Approach
Transactive planning is carried out in face-to-face interaction with the people who are to be
affected by the plan and not to an anonymous target community of beneficiaries.
Techniques include field surveys and interpersonal dialogue marked by a process of mutual
learning.
4. Advocacy Approach
5. Radical Approach
The first mainstream involves collective actions to achieve concrete results in the
immediate future. The second mainstream is critical of large-scale social processes and how
they permeate the character of social and economic life at all levels, which, in turn,
determine the structure and evolution of social problems.
