Favorite Scientist
 My favorite scientist, Gregor Mendel, is an Father of Modern Genetics:
Austrian monk who worked in the 19th century. Gregor Johann Mendel

 He was a scientist who worked out

the basic laws of inheritance, even
before the term "gene" had been
introduced into modern Science.

 Locking himself, Mendel worked in

his monastery garden, performing
thousands of crosses with garden
peas.

 Publishing his results, he explained

them by describing two laws of
inheritance that introduced the idea of
dominant and recessive traits.

 His work, nearly 35 years later,

provided the real fundamentals of
BORN: July 20, 1822 DIED: January 6, 1884
understanding the genetic basis of
inheritance. EDUCATION: Palacký University Olomouc
(1840–1843) University of Vienna

 Because of his experiments and works, it is the reason we now build much of
human genetics and why I want to continue my interest in the branch of genetics.

“To live without experiencing shame and blushes of admiration would surely be a wretched life”
