Touch guard of the AGIETRON COMPACT and INTEGRAL 4/5 ‘The systems are provided with various warning signs and danger labels which Indicate hazards with words and symbols. The danger labels and their significance are described in section 2 “General safety requirements”. It Is imperative that waming signs and danger labels are complied with. They must not be covered or otherwise defaced. Note: Technical interventions to the system are only to performed by qualified staff. ‘The AGIETRON INTEGRAL and COMPACT are fitted with various guard systems to prevent operating accidents, in particular to Safeguard against the following types of danger: 4.1 Electric shock 42 Fire 4.3. Dielectric spillage 4.4 Collisions 4.5. Crush injuries ‘The work tanks are fitted with a touch guard which prevents accidental touching of those parts of the machine which are under tension during erosion. The touch guard must not be removed Caution: {tis strictly prohibited to place the hands intentional in the work tank during erosion | ‘A sign is fixed to the work tank to remind the operator to never work without the touch guard ! The following messages will appear on the screen (A chap. kay: - AGIETRON COMPACT 4240 and 4303 - AGIETRON INTEGRAL 2/3: 4484 The minimum level must be set corresponding at the workoiece: AGIETRON COMPACT: by hand AGIETRON INTEGRAL 2/3: by the keyboard Attention: itis important that the dielectric level is properly set by the ope- rator. The erosion zone must always be a minimum of 40 mm be- low the dielectric level. The level sensors S30/S31 in the work tank control this setting. If the level falls below this limit the erosion is stopped. Both level sensors react together and autonomic to a drop in level: the erosion is halted and "waiting for MS" appears on CRT. If the set level is reached again within 5 min., the erosion will begin again. if not Message numbers 4240, 4302, 4304, 349 appear on CRT (see chap. Ké). AGIETRON INTEGRAL, COMPACT AGIE 08.94 K1 Safety, instalation, technical data 42.3 Temperature sensors RX2/RX6 and temperature switch RX7 of the AGIETRON INTEGRAL 4/5 AGIETRON INTEGRAL 4 ry sez ‘These measure the actual temperature of the dielectric in the work tank and display it on the screen. The desired temcerature is sat at the machine controller (CRT) and can be either the ambiant or a chosen dielectric temperature, The comparision between actual and set temperature can bring about the followin, 1. lower temperature of the clean tank dielectric 2. open the fil-up valve L8 (see the hydraulic diagram) to increase the circulation Higher actual temperature requires more flow or a lower cooling of the dielectric. Arise above the safety limits switches the erosion and the Circulation off and displays Message 4305 on the CAT (see chap. Ka). Only AGIETRON INTEGRAL 5: ‘The temperature switch RX7 activates following functions: - the EDM stop ~ the stop of the dielectric circulation in the work tank — the draining of the work tank shows message 4302 on the CRT (7 chap. They have a regulating level of 15 mm. Caution: Its important that the height of the erosion zone (normally workpiece height) has been correctly entered by the operator. Height of the dielectric: at least 40 mm above the erosion zone. ‘The two parallel switched level monitors react when 2) level to0 low: Message 4246 is displayed on CRT and the ero- sion process is halted (in expectation that the level is re- established). If the previous level is reached again within 20 sec., the erosion starts again. If not, Messages 4245, 4425 and 349 appear (7 chap. Kd), In this case the worktank is emptied and machine stops. ') level too high: 7 also next section "Protection devices to prevent dielectric spillage”, paragraph "Level sensors RXWAXS of the AGIETRON INTEGRAL 4/5" AGIETRON INTEGRAL 5: ‘These measure the position of the tank which is equivalert to the level of dielectric in the tank. They have a normal level +15 mm, ‘An incorrect value is displayed on the screen as message 4303/4304, This checks whether the programmed level of dielectric in the tank has been reached. Erosion can only start with $34 activated. Ifthe dielectric level drops, the circulation valve L8 is triggered in order to comaensate the level again, Message 4425 appears on the screen (7 chap. Ka). This operation is limited i time: 2) during erosion: TIME-OUT of 20” b) immediately after switching the plant on: TIME-OUT of 8° ©)_ after a tank movement: TIME-OUT of 5° | TIME-OUT is activated, message 4246 is displayed on the screen. Temperature sensor RX1 of the AGIETRON INTEGRAL 5 or of the DA 200C-AF (/SP) AGIETRON INTEGRAL 5 RX1 Ground pian Sensor RX1 measures the dielectric temperature after filtration and ‘sensor RX3 measures the air temperature. The operator can enter the nominal temperature for either the dielectric or the air at the AGIEMATIC. ~ Nominal dielectric temperature: ‘The actual dileloctric temperature measured by sensor RX1 is ‘compared with the nominal temperature entered by the ope- rator. = Nominal air temperature: The ambient temperature measured by sensor RX3 is dis- played on the screen. This is displayed on the screen. This is automatically adapted as the nominal temperature. The nominal temperature is compared with the actual temperature (dielectric temperature). If the actual temperature is higher, the cooling circut is opened (valve L9 open) until the nominal temperature is regained. If the actual temperature is lower, the cooling circuit is clesed (valve L closed) until the nominal temperature is regained. If the difference between the actual and nominal temperature is higher than the tolerance programmed in the machine configuration (tolerance temp), og. in the case of a defactive L9, the erosion wird unterbrochen and message 4482 (7 chap. Ka) appears on the screen, This measures the temperature of the dielectric in the collecting tank or the clean tank. This actual temperature will be compared with the requested temperature set by the operator on the CRT. If itis higher then the cooling circuit will be activated (L8) until the requested temperatura is reached. If the temperature rises to, or above 40°C (eg defective valve L9) the erosion will stop and Message 4226 appears on CRT (7 chap. KA). Catches dielectric which runs out when the door is opened and transfers it back into the dielectric unit. Safety switch $28 on the AGIETRON COMPACT impedes the filling of the work tank with dielectric or the starting of the machine with the door open. If start is ordered with the door open, message 4308 is displayed on the screen (/7 chap. K4), Attention : Since this switch is not a door locking device, the door may be ‘opened even with the work tank filled up! AGIETRON COMPACT 2/3: Attention: The worktank door must be closed as carefully as possible, ‘especially in the vicinity of the stop. Any rebounding of the door can result in the safety control centre which monitors the safety devices assuming the alarm status. If this happens, reopen and reclose the door. When the level is too high Message 4246 appears on the CRT but the erosion continues. At the same time the machine controller checks if that drain-trap M20 and if the programmed level stabilises within 20 sec. When it does not sink to the set level within this time, Messages 4246 and 349 also appear which causes the worktank to drain and the machine to stop. When level monitor $31 signals, the suction circuit activates 4 and the collecting tank is emptied. - When level monitor $32 signals, the machine stops and the worktank is drained, 192 AGIETRON INTEGRAL, COMPACT CAGIE 08.94 K1 Safety, installation, technical data 19 43.6 Level switch S35 of the AGIETRON INTEGRAL 5 835 4.3.7 Level switches $5.1, $6.1 and $6.2 of the AGIETRON INTEGRAL 5 If the level switch $35 is activated because of overflow of the ) dielectric, the following sequences are activated: @) during erosion: erosion stopped, message 4302 appsars on the screen (7 chap. When the work tank is run to its topmost position, limit switch $28 via the control opens pneumatic valve L32. This inflates the seal. ‘The tank can be filled with dielectric when a pressure of over 1.5 bar is reached (max. 2.6 bar). If the pressure for any reason falls below 1.5 bar, this is signalled to the machine control by pressure switch $13. This stops the machining, pumps M3, M4 and M7, ‘opens the drain valve (motor) M20 and the tank is drained. Simultaneously valve L32 is closed and message 4222 appears on the screen (7 chap. K4). When lowering the empty work tank, the dielectric in the collecting tank is forced upwards, $4 switches and the work tank movement is stopped. The work tank can then only be moved upwards. |n order to protect the collecting tank before transportation within the plant (forklift truck, etc.), a protective device (e. g. rectangular tube) should be fastened round the collecting tank at the bottom. ‘The spacing should be such that no damage to the collecting tank by means of transport ot the load (leakage of dielectric) is possible. - In order to catch any possible slight leakages of dielectric, a closed, tight sump with a 3...4 cm dege should be mounted beneath th machine. AGIETRON INTEGRAL, COMPACT ‘PAGIE 08.94 1 Safety, instalation, technic! data 4.4 Collision protection A 4.5 Crush protection for AGIETRON A\ iiearalas The AGIETRON systems are protected against collision between the quilVelectrode and the workpiece, the associated clamping ‘elements or anything on the table that is conductive and thereby hhas an electrical connection to the table. This collision prctection is. active in manual and automatic movement. It can be deactivated oe This is useful to retract the electrode from the work zone when the operation is at an end. Other axis movements, eg during te Pendulum movements of aligning the workpiece can not ba completed with the collision protection. However, whenever possible all axis movements should be made with the collision protection active! In this respect see also chapter K3. When moving the machine axes without colision protection it is ‘mandatory for the user to avoid possible collision, through correct programing and operation of the equipement. During clamping, special attention must be paid to the avol- dance of collisions when moving the axes (the same applies _ to pre-clamping at a pre-setting). { Attention: Never keep the hands in the work tank during the automatic traversing of the axes. In the event of danger, all axis movaments can be stopped instantaneously with the red emergency- cff buttons. By means of two mobile panels (left and right behind the working table) and the appropriate protective switches located behind them, any possible crush injuries to the operator or deformation of the machine are prevented Ifa foreign object becomes “caught” between one of the panels and the table when the working table is being moved to the rear (Y ~ axis -> * +" direction), through the pressure the panel will give way | backwards, before any damage can be done, and activate the appropriate protective switch S50 or SB1 and all axis movements will be stopped immediately. If sources of strong disturbance cannot be avoided (>0.1 g with sporadic vibrations and > 3 um at 2...100 cycles frequency), the ‘machine must be mounted on special vibration-damping ements. In this case a supplier of damping elements must be consulted. Fixing with anchor bolts is not necessary. ‘The system is to be installed in a room as dustfree as possible. AGIETRON INTEGRAL, COMPACT ‘AGIE 08.94 {1 Safety, instalation, technical data 7 Requirements of an air conditioning system 7.1 Hints Air conditioning systems are recommended where room ‘temperatures reach exteremely high levels or where very unstable conditions prevail With systems in general use there are only three orerating states: switched off part capacity (normally 30%) - full capacity Best suited are air conditioning systems with sufficient capacity to maintain the temperature constant at £1 deg. C throughout the day, but permitting the room temperature to follow the seasonal variations. Another more costly variant would be a “Super” installation maintaining a room temperature of 20 deg. C+ 0.5 deg. C throughout the entire year. Depending on their retigerating capacity, air conditioning systems can also be positively "cold air factories" having a negative effect on the accuracy of a machine. Note the following points when selecting an air concitioning system: - Choose systems with a large t-coefficient, ie. avoid those which blow out excessively cold air (disproportionate relation between refrigerating capacity and quantity of air circulated). - Avoid air flows directly on to the machine. Systems must be installed so that the cooled air can mix effectively with the room air near the ceiling and can then “trickle down”. Perforated hollow ceilings are ideal in this respect. ~ Unnecessary heat sources should be removed from the room. Systems combining efficient performance with moderate cost are available on the market in different variants. Decisive points for a good cost/performance ratio are a small t-coefficient (see previous age) and the dissipated thermal capacity (especially with high value systems). For this reason, no special protective measures are required. The enveloping surface method in accordance with DIN EN 45 635 ‘was used for metering, The working fluid used with spark erosion sinking is a hydrocarbon ‘obtained from mineral or synthetic oils. The purpose of this dielectric is: ~ to provide insulation between workpiece and electrode to create optimal discharge conditions ~ cooling for the dissipation of process heat and toprevent influencing the material flushing to carry away the erosion particles and the creation of ‘good conditions in the spark gap. To satisy these requirements the dielectric must have certain properties: In order to obtain great precision it is important to reduce the distance between the workpiece and electrode to a minimum. However, this should not jeopardize the controllabilty of the process. The dielectric should cool the workpiece and electrode without becoming overheated. For this purpose, apart from the properties of the fluid, it is also advantageous if the erosion is effected in a spacious working tank and with a good circulation of dielectric.
