PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 MATERIALS
2.1.1 Single or duplex submersible pumps: Furnish submersible centrifugal pumps with
stainless steel shaft, double mechanical seals cartridge type, factory-lubricated ball
bearings, and extra heavy-duty waterproof casing of close-grained cast iron with
integrally cast legs for supporting pump on bottom of sump. Provide cast-iron, non-
clog impeller capable of passing 50-millimeter (2- inch) solids.
1 Provide flat faced flanged discharge nozzle with drilling and dimensions
meeting the requirements of ASME B16.1, Class 125.
2 Provide motors as specified in Section 16150, Electric Motors.
3 Furnish liquid level switches consisting of NEMA 6 sealed float
switches for pump start and pump stop for each pump and high level
water alarm, (2-pole DPDT type for local and remote alarm circuit), with
height adjustable on 25-millimeter (1-inch) stainless steel support rod.

Position float switches for liquid level controls and alarm as follows and
at levels as indicated on the drawings and table hereinafter.
4 Don’t use mercury based switches.
5 Terminate the wiring of the switches in a dedicated junction box
furnished with terminal strips. Install the box near the sump. Wiring
from the float switches shall be connected to the terminals that shall be
marked according to the switches tags. Complete the wiring from the
box to the station CCM.
6 Furnish heavy-duty waterproof power cables rated at 600 volts and
control cables rated at 600 volts, with sufficient slack to permit pump
removal from sump for servicing without disconnecting the cables.
7 Furnish PCL for local hand operation. Includes all elements required for
control and visualization of the pump.
2.1.2 Magnetic Starters: Furnish magnetic starters that meet the requirements of
Document HTA-4-SP-16-009 Rev. 1 – Pliego de Especificaciones Técnicas, Diseño,
Suministro, Montaje, Instalación, Pruebas y Puesta en Servicio de Equipos de
Sistema Eléctrico.
2.1.3 Lubrication of Equipment: Furnish equipment with internal or concealed bearings
lubrication fittings extended to accessible location outside casing, excepting
hermetically sealed units with lifetime lubrication. Lubricate prior to start-up, and at
recommended intervals before turning equipment over to the Owner. Provide linen
tag or heavy duty shipping tag attached to each piece of equipment showing date of
lubrication and name and number of lubricant used. Provide typewritten list, in
triplicate, of each item lubricated and type of lubricant used.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
3.1.1 Installation and assembly of the equipment shall be in accordance with the drawings
and with the manufacturer’s installation instruction manual. The contractor shall
furnish all bolts, tools and other devices necessary for installing the pumping
The field tests procedures shall be approved by the Owner prior to testing;

Furnish all labor, materials and appurtenances necessary for supervising the field
tests.
Correct any defects in the equipment or failure to meet the requirements of the
specifications properly.
3.2.2 Test at rated speed to determine the curves of head brake horsepower, and
efficiency as a function of capacity. Take a minimum of six points including shutoff.
Take at least one point as near as possible to each specified condition of head and
capacity. Express capacity in liters per second and express head in meters of water.
Furnish copies of the curves, raw test data, calculated results and sufficient
information for computation and plotting of the curves.
3.2.3 Controls: Ensure that the tests also demonstrate that the equipment operates as
specified with its PCL control system and that it responds to the instrumentation
signals connected to the CCM. Ensure that the communication to the DCS works as
specified and that all listed variables to be transmitted to and from the DCS are
properly sent and received.
3.2.4 Field testing shall be conducted by an experienced field test engineer and will be
witnessed by the owner. Before initially energizing the motors, the contractor shall
have successfully tested all the control, monitoring, and protective circuits. This
through electrical checkout procedures shall have followed a detailed step-by-step
approved test plan. The motor units undergoing tests should also be checked at this
time.
3.2.5 Supervise field testing of each pumping unit in accordance with the test code of the
Hydraulic Institute, except as specified herein. Drive each pump by its own drive unit
during the test. Supervise field testing to include checking the operation of the
warning and drive shut-down circuitry. The test will include increasing the loading to
test the mechanical overload protection system.
