Looking for ways to prepare, review, or challenge yourself this year?

Here is a list of activities that you might already be doing with your family, or that you might do
individually, including some desk-type work, that will enhance your conceptual understanding of
mathematics.

Activity Questions

1. What materials did you use? Did you change your design after a couple attempts? Which one’s
ending up shooting the marshmellow or pom pom the farthest? How far did it shoot?

2. Have you played Monopoly before? What did you like about it? What did you find tricky or
difficult? If you didn’t win, what strategy would you use next time you played?

3. Share the link or type out the recipe you made. Include the measurements for each serving size –
one person, one family and a party (at least 10 people).

4. Did you find better deals on the actual airline websites or on discount sites? What was an
unexpected cost or expense you were unaware of? Give one travel tip you discovered when
researching.

5. Take and upload a picture of your map with coordinates included.

6. How many tries did it take you to find the perfect container for each leftover? Did you sometimes
over estimate? Under estimate? Why would it be important to choose the correct container size?

7. Was your budget a good estimate, over or under? What is the total of the 3 most expensive items?
What is one thing you were surprised about when making your budget and shopping?

8. Find your own online resources for: Scrabble, Chess, KenKen and Set. Put the links here. Which
game did you enjoy the most? Which did you find the most difficult? What strategies did you use
to improve your playing skills?

9. What grade level mission did you complete? What is one important thing you learned in this
mission?

10. Reflect on your expeirence with the online math course. What did you enjoy about the course? Is
there an aspect you found difficult with learning online or do you prefer it to in class?
