Course Code and Title: EDM 313 Human Resource Development Education

Course Description:
This course is an introduction and overview to the discipline of
Human Resource Development Education. The holistic nature of the course
addresses the processes of planning and implementing organizational
training systems, assessing educational and developmental needs of
employees, and examines the various applications of the HRD field used to
enhance employee performance.
The course introduces students to key elements necessary to carry out
needs assessment/analysis as well as design, develop, implement and
evaluate HRD Programs in organizations.

Course Objectives:

1. Explain the Basic Concepts, Terminology and Holistic Process of


developing Human Resources in a wide variety of work sectors.

2. Analyze the forces of contemporary trends or significant issues in


the field applicable to the major application areas.

3. Describe each of the major HRD functions and application areas.

4. Facilitate graduate-level discussion and act in the role of a


professional facilitator on a contemporary trend or problem within the field
and draw the class members towards a coherent, logical and a clear set of
conclusions and implications.
