1.1 Successful Indian Entrepreneur
Meena Bindra

An entrepreneur is a person who starts and runs a

new business or organization. An entrepreneur is
a founder who develops a business plan,
gets financing, hires employees and runs the
business. The entrepreneur takes the risks and, if
successful, enjoys the benefits.
The entrepreneur starts with a good idea for a new
business. While the business grows, the
entrepreneur is the central person in the business

Entrepreneurs are like gamblers, and like any

gambler, their chances of winning increase if they
have the right cards. Let's look at some
characteristics and skills that help an entrepreneur
succeed.

A tolerance for risk-taking is a necessary attribute

for entrepreneurs. You can think of risk-taking as
pursuing an activity even if there is a chance of a
negative consequence. Starting a business is risky,
and even more so when you're using your own
money. Sometimes you can spread the risk by
convincing investors to come along on your new
venture or by forming an entrepreneurial team, like
Eddie is trying to do. But at the end of the day, you
can't avoid risk if you are going to start a new
business and innovate.

2. REVIEW OF LITERATURE

1) Jonathan Craig stated that “Increasing numbers of

women are becoming leaders of their own businesses, and
many are struggling to achieve success. A growing body of
theory and research is exploring how different women come
to business ownership, their unique leadership challenges and
strategies for success, their personal change and the processes
of leadership development they experience. This paper
reviews literature addressing women business owners from
the general perspective of understanding their leadership” .

2) World entrepreneur stated that “A growing body of

literature is emerging to study the phenomenon of women’s
leadership as small business owners along a wide variety of
dimensions, drawing from perspectives ranging from market
models of business economic development to women’s
psychological development and feminist studies of women’s
leadership. Qualitative studies in the past five years have
indicated contested issues related to values, identity and the
meaning of leadership emerging in this trend of women
business ownership.”
3) Women don’t always accept the dominant formula that
success equals money and power. Women who start their own
business sometimes do so to craft a new way of working, and
many continue to fight barriers related to traditional constructs
of economic power and expectations. Many women business
owners claim that the whole experience changes them
profoundly.

offering new products and services in response to
societal concerns. The importance of
entrepreneurship and innovation also applies to
companies that change how they produce products
and services. The latter companies can use
innovative practices and entrepreneurship to
establish their brand name and to be market
leaders in doing things that create shared value for
society and their companies and also, over time,
contribute to changes in practices in their industry.
