An essay about the sounds and smells of my childhood

Every person has a lot of interesting and important memories. Especially

everybody with big pleasure remembers about his childhood. This period of life
has a lot of association with parents and carefree spending of time. What do you
remember about your childhood? Somebody associates this great period of life
with smells, other people think about some smells pleasant smells.

I remember a lot of interesting things, which are associated with my

childhood. For me, it was really great period of time and I have a lot of happy
moments. I remembered how we travelled with our dance group around Ukraine
and took part in different dancing contest. Of course, I know a lot of music, for
example, folk music associated with our contest in Sorochinskaya Fair. We also
had a dance with Chinese fans, we perform with it in Kharkov, where was
international festival of dance.

We travel a lot with my parents to different beautiful places. Most of all I like
Crimea, it is really beautiful peninsula. This place was associated with sounds of
the sea and alluring smells of Botanical Gardens.

And of course, I always remember smell of me dear house, where I was born
and where I lived with my parents. It is really the best place for me, I like spending
time there. I always enjoy different smells in my town; especially I like smell of
summer night. It helps me to remember about my childhood and the best moments
in my life.
Accent

Received Pronunciation (RP), commonly called BBC English and Standard

British pronunciation or Southern British pronunciation, is an accent of Standard
English in the United Kingdom and is defined in the Concise Oxford English
Dictionary as "the standard accent of English as spoken in the south of England",
although it can be heard from native speakers throughout England and Wales. Peter
Trudgill estimated in 1974 that 3 per cent of people in Britain were RP speakers,
but this rough estimate has been questioned by the phonetician J. Windsor
Lewis. Clive Upton notes higher estimates of 5% (Romaine, 2000) and 10%
(Wells, 1982) but refers to all these as "guesstimates" that are not based on robust
research.

Formerly colloquially called "the King's English", RP enjoys high social

prestige in Britain, being thought of as the accent of those with power, money, and
influence, though it may be perceived negatively by some as being associated with
undeserved privilege. Since the 1960s, a greater permissiveness toward regional
English varieties has taken hold in education.

The study of RP is concerned exclusively with pronunciation, whereas Standard

English, the Queen's English, Oxford English, and BBC English are also concerned
with matters such as grammar, vocabulary, and style.
