New Ways to Reward Students!

Hello York Prep 6th graders and parents,

York Prep has an exciting announcement to make! In our current landscape, we realize that it is

even more important than ever to keep morale high and to reward students for putting forth their

best efforts academically. We have decided to implement a monthly “Patriot Games”. The

Patriot Games will be monthly student vs. staff competitions. These competitions will consist of

races, basketball, board games and many more events for students and staff to compete in! To

participate in these competitions, students will need to ensure that they complete all their

assignments for the month without turning in work late and without any zeroes on those

assignments. The “Patriot Games” will take place during the last week of each month. We are

excited to host these games and excited to give students a reward for their all their efforts.

Additionally, the 6th grade teachers will now be using ClassDojo to reward positive student

behaviors and to keep students accountable for negative behaviors such as sleeping in class.

Students will be rewarded with a point for each positive behavior and will have a point taken

away for each negative behavior. Once students reach a total of 20 points for the week, they will

be able to redeem their points for a prize from the prize cart! If students get 20 points for at least

six weeks in the quarter, they will be able to participate in a “field day” during the quarter’s last

5th period.
