Get Ready To “Play 60!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s that time of year again that we are getting ready to kick off this year’s “Play 60 Challenge.”
For those of you who may not be familiar with the program, the “Play 60 Challenge,” is a
wellness initiative sponsored by the NFL and the American Heart Association whose goal it is
to get kids from schools all across the country moving and physically active for at least 60
minutes every day during the month of October. This week your student will be coming home
with an “activity recording journal” (it looks like a little booklet with a football player on the
cover). Each day in the month of October (starting on Monday, October 2nd) that your student
is able to complete at least 60 minutes of exercise or physical activity, please have them place
a check mark in the box inside the journal. Those check marks will then be recorded in school
on their class’s “Classroom Scoreboard.” At the end of the month, all of the classroom
scoreboards will be collected and sent in to the “Play 60” program coordinator. The schools,
classes, and possibly even some individual students with the highest participation are eligible
to win prizes. This past year we had several classes in our building earn $250 prizes (to spend
on exercise or game equipment for their classrooms) and we were selected to send 30
students from our building to the stadium for an awesome “Kick Off
Event”:https://youtu.be/SAYKR4Jd5SQ. Please take a look at the materials sent home and feel
free to contact us with any questions or concerns! Get ready to “Play 60.”
