Activity 6: My target Heart Rate

1. A 30-year old with a resting heart rate of 63 bpm.

MHR = 220 - 30
MHR= 190

HRR= MHR- RHR

= 190 – 63
HRR= 127

60% x HRR= .6 x 127

= 76.2
80% x HRR= .8 x 127
= 101.6

60% HRR + RHR = 76.2 + 63

= 139.2 beats per minute
80% HRR + RHR = 101.6 + 63
=164.6 beats per minute

Therefore, the target heart range is 139.2 to 164.6 beats per minute.

2. A 17-year old with a resting heart rate of 65 bpm.

MHR = 220 - 17
MHR= 203

HRR= MHR- RHR

= 203 – 65
HRR= 138

60% x HRR= .6 x 138

= 82.8
80% x HRR= .8 x 138
=110.4

60% HRR + RHR = 82.8 + 65

= 147.8 beats per minute

80% HRR + RHR = 110.4 + 65

= 175.4 beats per minute

Therefore, the target heart to range is 147.8 to 175.4 beats per minute.

3. A 45-year old with a resting heart rate of 60 bpm.

MHR = 220 - 45
MHR= 175

HRR= MHR- RHR

= 175 – 60
HRR= 115

60% x HRR= .6 x 115

= 69
80% x HRR= .8 x 115
= 92

60% HRR + RHR = 69 + 60

= 129 beats per minute
80% HRR + RHR = 92 + 60
= 152 beats per minute

Therefore, the target heart to range is 129 to 152 beats per minute.
