Chapter 5: Axiology and Education

Discussion Questions: Discuss the following questions with concrete evidence to support your argument.

1. “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” – Albert Einstein.

For me, what I agree with this idea is that people can’t be totally isolated. They are living in a
community where communication and interaction among people is enviable. People always need
help when they are in trouble. People need to help each other when they are living in the society.
On other hand, people can’t sacrifice their whole life just for other people. They should listen to
their heart and please their own lives by their own means.

2. What is Axiology?
Axiology is the philosophy, whose importance places on goodness and values.

3. Why do we study Axiology?

The reason why we study Axiology is that people need to think critically of what they should do
and shouldn’t do and how to situate in the society in harmony way.

4. How important is ethics to education?

Ethics has played an important role in education due to the fact it helps to install the code of
conducts to students. The students should learn and know how to act and treat other people in
good way.

5. What is the role of aesthetics in education?

Aesthetics in education offers students the freedom in the process of learning. It allows the
students to discover new ideas, to be creative and to communicate with other people in good way.
