James Madison High School 2020-2021 School year

BYLAWS / club constitution Article I

Section 1 The name of this club shall be JR. National Association for the Deaf JR. NAD

Section 2 Purpose: The purpose of this club is for Deaf and Hard of Hearing awareness and for Deaf youth
empowerment through leadership and life skills. Social events for educational development and social competency in
hearing society at a day school. Mission statement includes:

Developing ADVOCACY, LEADERSHIP SKILLS, CITIZENSHIP,


COMMITMENT and INVOLVEMENT.

Article II

Section 1 The club is subsidiary to the Associated Student Body of Madison High School and such has only powers as
granted to them by charters specific resolutions approved by the ASB.

Section 2 Jr. NAD associated with Madison High School recruits members that are current Madison high school
students of all grades and does not discriminative towards race, religion or sexual orientation or identity. Members shall
have access to an interpreter so that language is accessible. This is the JR. NAD High School Chapter 9-12th grade.

Section 3 Membership eligibility in this club shall be for students who possess a good academic and social attitude
towards Deaf awareness and social ethics. Members are required to have ASL skills and knowledge.

 Members are required to attend scheduled meetings and participate.


 Members are regulated by the JR. NAD cabinet member and staff. Members are to
treat one another with respect, courteous and mindful of job duty descriptions. If
cabinet members want to ‘change’ positions or want to withdraw from activities, a
meeting will be held for voting.
 If a member is appearing delinquent, not exerting effort in the club participation
process, this can be voted and used at the advisor’s discretion.
 If the Jr. NAD president is not able to initiate any meeting discussions, the Vice President
will take over.
 If in the event the President and Vice President are not in attendance, the Treasurer will
take over the meeting, Secretary, Public Affairs, Asst. Public affairs and then Sergeants
of the Guard.
 Voting and Election of cabinet members are guided by Advisor and facilitates member
involvement to improve the Jr. NAD chapter at Madison H.S. The Jr. NAD advisor and
students will recognize student initiative,
involvement, focus, passion,
respect, motivation, care, confidence, leadership
development.
 The President and Vice President will preside all meetings and come to attention for all
announcement, special engagements and keep all cabinet members in the know.
 Voting will be held in Spring, May is usually the campaign month, to kick off the school
year. Students that nominate themselves and or others know that a cabinet position is
a commitment and are encouraged to finish out the year.
 The President and Vice President should typically be a Junior and or Senior classmen.
 Students and Advisor are aware which students contribute effort to the club and the
work that is put into it.

Section 4 Financial Regulations

Club Treasurer will work with Advisor and staff to receive all funds and immediately turn then in to the financial office
for accurate receipts and disbursements in keeping with policy for handling school organizations.

Article IV

All meetings shall be open meetings and shall be held under the supervision of the club advisor.

Article V

This constitution may be amended by 2/3 votes for the club, provided that the proposed amendment is within the
powers granted in the constitution of the Associated Body of Madison High School.
