The earth that we live in is a part of the solar system. The solar system
is made up of the sun and everything that orbits around it, including planets
moons, comets, asteroids, and meteoroids.
The sun is the largest object in the solar system, thus it has the greatest
gravity. Due to its powerful gravity, the sun attracts all the other objects in
the solar system towards it. At the same time, these objects are trying to fly
away from the sun. These objects end up orbiting the sun as the result of
trying to fly away from and being pulled by the sun.
Scientists believed that the solar system evolved from a giant cloud of
dust and gas that collapsed under the weight of its own gravity. Then, it
began moving in a giant circle. At the center of this spinning cloud, a small
star began to form. This star grew bigger and bigger as it collected more and
more of the dust and gas.
Further away from the center where the star was forming, there were
smaller clumps of dust and gas that were also collapsing. The star in the
center eventually ignited forming the sun, while the smaller clumps became
the planets, minor planets, moons, comets, and asteroids, thus forming the
solar system.
