A long walk home

Q. No 01. Write the central idea of ‘A Long walk home’?

Answer:
‘A long walk home’ is a very beautiful story. It expresses the beauty of
parental love and care for their children. The central idea of this lesson is
that we should always speak truth no matter what the situation is. Our lies
can hurt the feelings of another person. Especially we should not lie to our
parents because they are very concerned about our personality
development and it hurts them badly to know if we hide things from them.
This lesson aims to establish a healthy relationship between parents and
their children.
Q. No. 02. Analyse the pattern of organizing paragraphs in the text and
tell what pattern has been used?
Answer:
Generally, a paragraph should have a topic sentence, supporting sentences and a
conclusive sentence. A complete narration should have introductory, supporting
and concluding paragraphs. The writer has used the narrative pattern and told the
story in a very brief but organized style starting with a proper introduction and
ending with a satisfactory and justified end.

When Jason lied to his father and his lie was exposed, instead of traveling in car,

the eighteen kilometres? Was his decision justified?
Answer:
Jason’s father refused to sit in car and decided to walk the 18 kilometres to punish
himself. When Jason lied to him, his father got hurt and said that ‘I have failed as a
father if after all these years you feel that you have to lie to me. I have failed
because I have brought a son who can not even tell the truth to his own father. His
decision was justified because it taught his son a lesson that he never forgot and
never lied to him again.
Q. No. 06. Why was Jason’s father so angry with himself rather than his
son?
Answer:
When Jason lied to him, his father got hurt and said that ‘I have failed as a father if
after all these years you feel that you have to lie to me. I have failed because I
have brought a son who cannot even tell the truth to his own father. Instead of
scolding or punishing his son, Jason’s father decided to walk back to home to
contemplate where he had gone wrong in all those years.

Q.No.09. Evaluate the character and personality of Jason’s father.
Compare and contrast it with you dad’s personality.
Answer:
Jason’s father was a very visionary, humble, and caring father. He was one of
those fathers who always teach their children with love and sober manners. When
his son lied to him, instead of bullying and insulting him, he realized his son his
mistake by punishing himself. My father is a very nice and cool person. When I
make any mistake or commit a wrong act, my father advises me politely without
getting angry or being harsh. I think all parents should interact with their children
with a high level of morality and decency.
