How is water like

electricity?
Imagine this Whitewater Course is an electric circuit.
Can you match the analogous parts of the course with
their electric circuit counterpart?

1. The force or pressure of volt- The force

the flow of the river due to represents the
the difference in height of
amount of
the water.
voltage,
because when
the voltage is
higher, the
speed
increases, and
when the water
force is higher
the speed at
which the
water moves is
higher.
2. The amount of water in the load- It is the
flow of the river. load because it
is what the
river is carrying
much like the
current,
3. The boulders in the river. resistance- as
the water
moves bast the
boulders it
causes the
water to slow
down, much
like how the
current slows
when the
resistance is
higher,
4. The direction of the water’s AC/DC- the
flow. ac/dc is the
direction that
the current
moves, so
when the water
flows one way
it represents
the ac/dc.
5. The individual water electrons- the
molecules. electrons are
individual
particles in
energy, so the
water
molecules
represent the
electrons.
6. The barriers in the river switch- if the
that can open and close to switch is
stop the water flow
opened the
circuit breaks
and the current
stops flowing,
so if the barrier
is closed that
means the
water stops
flowing,
7. The water conveyer. current- the
conveyer is
what moves
the water
along, and the
current is what
moves the
evergy along.
8. The river channel wire- The wire
is what the
current flows
through so the
water flows
through the
river channel.
9. The pump house energy source-
the energy
source is what
the voltage and
current comes
out of, and the
pump house is
where the
water comes
out to flow
through the
channel or the
“wires”
