h a p p e n i n g s
 We are very thankful that the Lord really blessed our
Survival Camp in July. It was so good to be back at camp
after having to cancel our April camps. When we opened up
for registrations we were instantly overwhelmed with children
wanting to come. We had a full camp of 11-15 year olds who were very keen and survived the mixed
weather that we have come to expect at our winter camps.
The theme of our camp was “GOD WHERE ARE YOU?”
We felt that these young people had many questions like this
considering what is happening in the world today. This subject was
covered in our main teachings, Impact workshops and Yak times as
well as in a panel discussion in which we had given the young people
an opportunity to provide questions.
In our latest spring camp during the September/October holidays we were instantly overwhelmed with
registrations but due to Auckland being still at level 2 we had to cap the numbers to 100. This made for
a quieter and more intimate camp and it was lovely to see God working in the lives of the children who
attended. The theme for our teaching was from the book of Daniel which enabled us to give exciting and
challenging teaching to the children. As usual we heard heart breaking stories
from children grappling with very complex issues in life. Thank you Lord
you have the answers and can heal our hearts.

This has been a massive hit for
the children using it. They love it
and so do the schools! After many
years of dreaming about it, we are
now seeing this dream in action!
Thank you to all of you who
helped make this a reality. To see
those beaming smiles when they
get off that slide is worth it!

CAMP RAGLAN
 India News
Following the success of the on-line
camp reported in our last newsletter,
the CBM team continued with a weekly
programme for a while, followed by short
weekly devotions. They have recently been
preparing for another major programme
over the Diwali holiday. This has been
difficult with communication problems and
sickness amongst the volunteers.
Rodney (Mumbai) has also been
doing an on-line weekly club for children
in another city, plus some teacher training.
Binu (Siliguri) has been teaching
on-line in a Bible school, two hours a
day for three weeks. She also had the
opportunity of speaking to the children in a
mission’s conference in USA.
Evangeline (Delhi) has completed
on-line training for 70 people from five
Indian states and Nepal.
Veronica (Hyderabad) has set up a
special sound proof room to record stories
for churches to use in Sunday Schools.
She saw her daughter Maureen married
in USA. Because of travel restrictions, no
one from India could attend, though they
did participate in the wedding via zoom.
Maureen is the first CBM
second-generation graduate to marry!
LONG TERM FRUIT FROM
INTERNATIONAL TRAINING
We were recently contacted by a
lady in Sydney who told us how a children’s
ministry leader attended a CBM training
course there in the late 1970’s and then
taught and demonstrated to her what we had
shared. Since then she has been involved
in teaching and writing lessons. She still
uses the material purchased from CBM
back then. She has recently made a 12 part
video series on the “Lord’s Prayer” to be
used during lock down. So age and time
are no barriers to God working!
INTERNATIONAL
what happened with
the international students?
Francis (Bangladesh)
was able to
quarantine in his
ministry office. His
staff have been
encouraged through
Isaiah 40:31 about
“Rising up with
wings as eagles”. They are now calling this period “New
Wings”. Their ministry centre is now open to a limited
number of children. Francis is teaching his staff (above)
what he learned in NZ. The staff are continuing the job of
translating the Life Changers Curriculum into Bengali, that
Francis started during lockdown here.
Joseph and Everlyn (Kenya) were the last to get
away. Both were able to go straight to their family homes.
Tari (India) was fortunate to get a connecting
flight from Delhi to his home state of Arunachal Pradesh to
quarantine there. However, he later did a lot of traveling
and caught Covid. He was very sick for a while but has
now mostly recovered, though still has some weakness.
Eloni (India) has the most interesting story! First
she quarantined in a Delhi hotel for seven days, then on
reaching her state of
Manipur she was in a
Quarantine Centre with
86 others in an open
shed market place.

while they slept on a
thin sheet on the ground, making their bodies ache.
Around them was the foul smell of chickens, ducks and a
septic tank. They suffered from mosquito bites, stinging
ants, and rats running over them.
Her third quarantine was in her local area with
leeches, mosquitoes and damp weather. While Eloni was
taking devotions in the evenings, leeches would climb up
the outside wall and come into the room. Before they
slept at night they had to put salt near the door and on
the veranda to stop them. But still many were sucked by
leeches while asleep. Everyone needed gumboots to go
for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Her total quarantine time
was one month and 15 days! At home in her village only
the leaders can meet in the church while the programme
is played through a loudspeaker to all the others in their
homes.

 Despite the interruptions that
have occurred due to Covid-19,
we were able to hold four training
workshops: Tool Time, Special to God, Ministry to Young

Aotearoa NZ
After months of research, consultation and review by outside
sources, this series is finally being published.
We believe that there is a real need in our society for a
balanced view of New Zealand’s history, including Christian
and Maori perspectives. This will help us and our young
people to understand our Christian heritage, and the source
of problems that have arisen over many years, which have
deeply affected our tangata whenua.
It comes in two formats –
1) E-format
E-format, downloadable, with texts and power-points for
6 lessons. Includes background information, list of other
resources, and activities.
It is designed for children aged 10+ upwards, and youth.
2) Book format with 8 chapters, well-illustrated. Designed
originally for Home-schoolers, but also useful for anyone
