Validation of Hydrological modeling:

Watershed models are powerful tools for simulating the effect of watershed processes and management on soil and
water resources. Computer based hydrological models can save time and money because of their ability to perform
long-term simulation of the effects of watershed processes and management activities on water quantity and
availability. These models also facilitate the simulation of various morphological study and aid policy design to
mitigate water availability to be used for further development of the community. But these mathematical models if not
validated accurately then It may lead to failure of a costly project in future. These models are actually can be give a
prediction of around 95% accuracy if not calibrated and validated through the right steps with the physical
observations before making in final decision. So, the model’s result should be validated before finalizing the location
of the proposed water intake point.

The model calibration and validation process includes matching of water-surface elevations in dry season at
5 locations and velocity profile at those sections within a reach encompassing all the alternative locations. Based on
the validation results only the location for proposed RWI should be finalized.
