ST – Mastery 35%

Strategies Planned
● Students observe result by actively participating in inquiry science experiments
● The teacher demonstrates directions, how to conduct science experiments, and organizing
writing.
● Students are discovering the sun's effect on the moon, the relationship between predator
and prey, and the way a trait is passed from parent to offspring.
● Direct instructions within whole group and small group instruction/activities
● Students follow directions, listen to the teacher, and actively collaborate with peers
● Students practice their knowledge through stations and activities that involve collaboration
or hands-on experience

Multiple Intelligences fostered
● ∙      Body/Kinesthetic – Students participated in hands-on experiments to solve science
inquiry, develop plays, build and create habitats, and move around the room for
rotation/centers.

SF – Interpersonal 35%
Strategies Planned
● Students read books about what would happen to the world if sharks disappeared, discover
how the moon affects earth, and how to write persuasively
● Students work together with peers to complete activities or solve inquiry problems
● Students develop a play with their peers to demonstrate the relationship between predator
and prey
● Students are given the opportunity to share with the class or with a partner the work they
have completed

Multiple Intelligences fostered
● ∙      Musical/Rhythmic – students may include music in their play if they wish to do so
● ∙      Interpersonal – students work together in groups during class and collaborate to
complete activities, discover an answer, or share their work

NI - Understanding 20%
Strategies Planned
● Students will conduct experiments to discover an answer to a hypothesis
● Students write using a persuasive voice and debate with a partner about the claims made
for their statement
● Gaining information through direct instruction and reading books for research on different
information
● Chances to work independently in hands-on activities
● Studying the relationship between prey and predator and how animals interact with one
another and the world
● Evaluate data and determine results in a science experiment
● Direct instruction from the teacher for lesson content

Multiple Intelligences fostered
● ∙      Intrapersonal – Students record thoughts and ideas in a science journal and reading
journal, develop personal beliefs on a claim and defend their argument, conduct research
on an animal of their choice
● ∙      Verbal/Linguistic – Presenting a play to the class, sharing their work with a partner,
defending their claim made in a persuasive essay, learning new vocabulary

NF – Self-expressive 10%
Strategies Planned
● Write, direct, and act out a play through collaboration with peers
● Predicting results through drawing
● Developing an opinion and defending it with reasoning and logic
● Drawing, painting, building as a response to what has been learned
● Creating and drawing symmetry
● Responding to journal entries with word maps, pictures, or other

Multiple Intelligences fostered
● Logical/Mathematical – students conduct and experiment and draw conclusions from
their results, create symmetry using legos, determine cause and effect relationships
● Visual/Spatial – drawing predictions and observations, developing a play, painting and
drawing pictures of what is around them or what they believe to be true, drawing
conclusions from observations, noticing symmetry in the world, determining traits of
offspring from parents
● Naturalist – discuss the effect that the moon has on earth, the relationships of prey and
predators, what would happen if sharks disappeared?, how are traits passed from parents to
offspring
