Science 10

Activity 1
1. For you what evidence best supports the Plate Tectonic theory.
For me the evidence that best supports the Plate tectonic theory is the
Paleontological Evidence because considering the distance of the two or
more continents that are so far from each other finding big size fossil that
cannot be carried by the waters is impossible unless there happenings such
as Pangea breaking because of continental drift. Therefore for me this is the
best and the most logical evidence .

2. Explain the process involved in land formation.

The process by which the lithospheric fragments, actually pieces of other
plates, became attached to the continents is called accretion.
Activity 2
Make your own timeline that summarize the development of the plate
tectonic theory.

On Jan,1,1596 Abraham Ortelius, was the one who came up with the
continental drift theory on.
On Jan.1,1693 Nicolas Steno's law of superposition was that each layer of
rock is older than the layer above it.
On Jan.1,1795 James Hutton used Steno’s Law of Superposition. It
compares rock layers to rocks above and below the rock.
On Nov. 1,1880 Alfred Wegener was the first to introduce the theory of
continental drift to the world.
On May 4, 1906 Harry Hess a geologist based and worked the most on the
relationships between seafloor gravity anomalies, serpentized peridotite,
and island arcs.
