Friendship:

Friendship is like China,

Exquisite and rare.

Though it can be mended,

The scratches are always there.

Your eyes filled with emotion

your smile sparkles like new fallen snow

I only wish that I knew how

to let my true feelings for you show.

Beneath your tough emotional appearance

lies a heart of solid gold

I don’t want to give up our friendship

no matter what I’ve been told.

Your kind soul and tender spirit

can brighten anyone’s lousy day

your gentle touch and soothing voice

make all my fears just melt away.

Summary:

I have written a poem on Friendship. In this poem I have used figure of speech to add more beauty to my
words. In first stanza simile is used when friendship is compared with china because it is also rare and
exquisite. Metaphor is used when in second stanza heart is compared with gold. In last stanza
personification is also used when soul is brightening lousy day. Hyperbole is used in last stanza where
voice will make all of my fear melt oxymoron is used in second stanza where appearance is said tough
and emotional at the same time.

encourage or provoke an emotional display of a given perspective or action. Rhetorical devices evoke an
emotional response in the audience through use of language, but that is not their primary purpose.
Rather, by doing so, they seek to make a position or argument more compelling than it would otherwise
