1 Overview
Single site verification (SSV) is a very important part of network optimization. The purpose
is to ensure that the signal coverage and basic functions (such as access, handover,
uplink and downlink traffic, etc.) of each cell of each site in the to-be-optimized area are
normal before the network cluster optimization.

The 5G NR SSV can be divided into two categories by the networking mode: one for the
NSA networking mode and one for the SA networking mode. The SSV work scope and
SSV method are different in the two networking modes. This document is intended to
describe their characteristics in detail.

2 NSA SSV
Currently, the NR NSA networking mode is Option 3X. This networking mode is anchored
on FDD LTE, the control plane is borne on FDD LTE, and the user plane is borne on FDD
LTE and 5G NR jointly.

2.1 Connections of NSA Testing Equipment

4G CPE and 5G CPE are used during the NSA SSV because currently no commercial
terminals are available for the NSA SSV test.

v. Connect the T6000 power supply device to the CPE to make it supply power.

2.2 NSA Testing Software

Currently, the NSA service testing software adopts the LMT+CXT mode: The Local
Maintain Terminal (LMT) is connected to the CPE, the CPE accesses the network through
the LMT, and then the information collected by the CPE (including RSRP, SINR,
throughput, signaling, etc.) is displayed on the LMT. The CXT is connected to the LMT,
and the information collected by the LMT is transmitted to the CXT and displayed on the
CXT.

⚫ LMT: This is an application designed to monitor and test the operating status of the
UE system in real time. It runs separately on a personal computer.

⚫ CXT: This is an equipment testing application independently developed by ZTE

Corporation. It supports geographic rendering of the test information and the
playback of test data.

⚫ CXA: This is an application independently developed by ZTE Corporation. It supports

the playback and indicator analysis of test data.

2.2.1 LMT Software Operations

1. First set the IP address of the test laptop: Determine the network card to be
connected to the CPE, configure the IP address (192.254.1.1) and the subnet mask
(255.255.0.0) of the corresponding 5G CPE, and add the IP address (192.252.1.1)
and the subnet mask (255.255.0.0) of the corresponding 4G CPE in Advanced
TCP/IP Setting of this network card, as shown in the figures below.

2.3 NSA SSV Work Scope and Criteria

Before performing SSV, first confirm that the site to be verified has been commissioned,
all of its neighbor cells have been added, and there is no alarm that may affect the SSV.

2.3.1 NSA SSV Work Scope

SSV is mainly performed through on-site survey, DT and CQT tests, and the work scope
mainly includes the following contents:

1. Checking the engineering parameters.

Check whether the engineering parameters such as the latitude and longitude of the
base station and the azimuth and downtilt of each antenna are consistent with the
planning data, and whether there is any tall building that is in the main coverage
direction and blocks signals. For an NSA base station, the 5G antenna azimuths,
mechanical downtilts, and electronic downtilts must be the same with those of the
corresponding 4G antennas.

2. Checking the radio parameters.

Check whether the radio parameters such as the frequency, LAC, TAC, CID, PCI,
prach, and transmit power of the each cell are consistent with the planning data.

3. Testing the service performance at a good point (CQT).

ZTE Confidential & Proprietary. © 2019 ZTE CORPORATION. All rights reserved. 15
Confidential▲

At a fixed point (good point), test the 4G and 5G NR equipment accessibility with the
4G CPE and 5G CPE in a dual-connection mode, upload and download files, and do
the PING test, so as to verify whether the test results meet the criteria or not.

4. Testing the coverage (DT).

Perform an intra-site coverage test to verify whether the coverage of the three sectors
under the site is reasonable, whether any antenna is cross-connected, whether any
cell severely overshoots signals, and whether the handover function is normal.

5. Recording and solving the problems.

For the problems discovered in the SSV, record them in the SSV Report, including
brief fault analysis, solutions, and re-verification records.

6. The NSA SSV report templates are as follows:

i. NSA SSV report template for China Mobile:

1 NSA SSV
Report Template_China Mobile.xlsx

ii. NSA SSV report template for China Unicom:

2 NSA SSV

2.4 Radio Parameter Check Before NSA SSV

Because some default parameter configuration on the network management system (SDR
for 4G and UME for 5G) may be improper, it is necessary to check and optimize the 4/5G
radio parameters before performing the SSV. The following table lists the radio
parameters that need to be modified before the SSV of Version 2.00.10 base stations.

3.2 SA Testing Software

Currently, the SA service testing software adopts the LMT+CXT mode: The LMT is
connected to the CPE, the CPE accesses the network through the LMT, and then the
information collected by the CPE (including RSRP, SINR, throughput, signaling, etc.) is
displayed on the LMT. The CXT is connected to the LMT, and the information collected
by the LMT is displayed on the CXT.

3.2.1 LMT Software Operations

1. First set the IP address of the test laptop: Determine the network card to be
connected to the CPE, configure the IP address (192.254.1.1) and the subnet mask
(255.255.0.0) of the corresponding CPE, as shown in the figure below.

2. Run the LMT program: The LMT version must be consistent with the CPE600 version,
and the CPE600 version must be consistent with the version of the base station. The
main interface of the LTE program is as shown in the following figure.

3.3 SA SSV Work Scope and Criteria

Before performing SSV, first confirm that the site to be verified has been commissioned,
all of its neighbor cells have been added, and there is no alarm that may affect the SSV.

3.3.1 SA SSV Work Scope

SSV is mainly performed through on-site survey, DT and CQT tests, and the work scope
mainly includes the following contents:

1. Checking the engineering parameters.

Check whether the engineering parameters such as the latitude and longitude of the
base station and the azimuth and downtilt of each antenna are consistent with the
planning data, and whether there is any tall building that is in the main coverage
direction and blocks signals. For SA base stations, it is recommended to keep their
engineering parameters consistent with the engineering parameters of the 4G
commercial network, so as to reduce the optimization workload.

Confidential▲

At a fixed point (good point), test the SA equipment accessibility with the CPE600,
upload and download files, and do the PING test, so as to verify whether the test
results meet the criteria or not.

For the problems discovered in the SSV, record them in the SSV Report, including
brief analysis results, solutions, and re-verification records.

6. The SA SSV report template is as follows:

3.4 Radio Parameter Check Before SA SSV

Because some default parameter configuration on the UME may be improper, it is
necessary to check and optimize the 5G radio parameters before performing the SSV.
The following table lists the radio parameters that need to be modified before the SSV of
Version 2.00.20 base stations.

AppA General Care During Throughput Test

and Throughput Test Method

A.1 General Care During Throughput Test

Because the NR performance has been enhanced greatly compared with LTE, before
conducting the SSV, make sure that the test laptop, the transmission equipment, and the
server can satisfy the demands for performance test.

Because different network operators use different frame structures, the acceptance
criteria are different.

1. China Mobile uses a 5ms frame structure (2.6G band, which needs to be aligned with
the LTE D-band time slots). The frame structure is as shown in the following figure.

Regular frame: DDDDDDDSUU

S frame: 6:4:4

2. China Unicom adopts a frame structure of 2.5ms dual period (3.5G band). The frame
structure is as shown in the following figure.

Regular frame: DDDSUDDSUU

S frame: 10:2:2
