SCHEME OF STUDIES:

Core subjects

ENGLISH

English is a vital way of communicating in school, in public life and internationally. In studying
English, pupils develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. It enables them to express
themselves creatively and imaginatively.

At New Era English Primary School our aim is to teach children the skills to read with confidence,
fluency and understanding. We want our pupils to become enthusiastic and critical readers of stories,
poetry and drama as well as non-fiction and media texts. Guidance is provided on how parents can
best support their children’s learning in this area.

MATHS
It involves providing children with opportunities to develop their skills in counting, understanding and
using numbers, calculating simple addition and subtraction problems; and to describe shapes, space,
and measures.

Our teaching programme is based on the Primary National Curriculum and sets out what children
learn on a year-by-year basis.

SCIENCE

Science stimulates and excites pupils’ curiosity about events and things in the world around them.
Because science links direct practical experience with ideas, it can engage learners at many levels.

We aim to provide the children with a science knowledge base, and encourage them to ask questions,
make predictions and then to test these in order to discover more about the world around them. We
hope also to foster responsible attitudes towards the environment and all living things.

SOCIAL STUDIES

It involves guiding children to make sense of their physical world through opportunities to explore,
observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment

It also helps to develop an understanding of maps, and a range of investigative and problem-solving
skills both inside and outside the classroom.

COMPUTERS

Pupils use ICT tools to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information responsibly &
creatively. We believe that all children should be given opportunities to engage in a broad computing
curriculum that ensures they are responsible & competent. We are well equipped with IT
infrastructure including laptops, iPads and interactive whiteboards in all classrooms.

HINDI & MARATHI

Learning a language enriches the curriculum. It provides excitement and challenge for children and
teachers, helping to create positive attitudes to language learning through life. Hindi & Marathi is
taught in all classes. The emphasis is on active learning to engage and develop speaking, reading &
writing skills through the use of books, movies, games, songs and activities.
CREATIVE SUBJECTS

CRAFT

Craft is a natural form of expression and can be a source of great pleasure. We encourage children to
develop their creative and imaginative talents by using a variety of materials such as colour papers
etc.

develop values like Honesty, Truth, Punctuality and honoring others.

It also helps to develop abilities, attitudes and other forms of behavior of positive values in the society
in which he lives.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE:

General knowledge helps the students to grow on both physical as well as mental levels.

It will also help the students to increase their confidence level.

Drawing is one of the most important activities you and your students can do. Drawing not only
provides the basis for other creative activities - like painting, sculpture and printmaking

developing self-discipline & self-control.
