INTRODUCTION

“Errors should be reason for growth, not excuse for


discouragement.” A Quotation that really encourages me to
strive and to pursue for the attainment of my profession
despite the hindrances I encountered.

Portfolio is a collection of a student’s work gathered for a


particular purpose.It illustrates the success that occurred
during the student/intern teaching field experience.It
composed of purposeful collections that examine
achievement,effort,improvement and processes such as
selecting,comparing,sharing,self-evaluation and good
setting.Portfolio also shows how effective teacher you are.

To graduate from an education course, we have this


portfolio as a requirement.It contains narration of experiences
from one school (Tacurong National High School), their
history, mission and vision activities, etc. It also includes
Professionals career plan ,lesson plans, current resume,
application letter, example of assessment instruments and
other relevant documents/ materials which are necessary in
developing somebody to become an effective teacher someday.

Purposely, the logbook would serve as a guide or frame of


reference in the teaching learning process whenever we’re
already on the field. It also serves as a basis and storage of
learning materials which visualize the reform of the
educational system.

I do hope that the purpose of this portfolio could impart


relevant and quality education in the years to come.

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
I believed that education is the foundation for life.Teachers
creates all other professions ,without teachers we would not
have doctors,police officers,lawyers and other professions.

Education is important for not only providing students with


knowledge but it is also important for teaching students
various life skills.Teachers help students develop social
skills,self discipline,self-esteem, problem solving and
responsibility.

All students can learn; there are no children in the world that
are incapable of learning.With a caring and positive teacher
every student can succeed in life, which is the purpose of
education.Teachers need to make sure that they are meeting
the needs of all their students;teachers can do this by
differentiating instruction.Teachers should remember the
various different types of learners and should incorporate
Howard Gardner’s Theory of multiple intelligence in their
teaching.When educating students,teachers must provide
individual with what they need in order to be successful.

I believe in active learning.Teachers should teach their


students the strategies they need to become independent
learners.Teachers are there to provide guidance for
students;students should be the ones doing the work to gain
knowledge.We can accomplish this by having learning focused
classrooms rather than teacher focused classrooms.High
engagement instruction is critical for active learning.Students
gain knowledge by experience the more hands on the better!

Teacher should create a positive and safe learning


environment.Expectations should be discussed with students
when they enter the classroom at the beginning of the
year.Students need to know what is expected of them but they
should also know what they should expect from the
teacher.Teacher should promote positive peer
relationships.Students need to know that it is a safe place,they
are free to be themselves.

HISTORY OF TACURONG NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

Tacurong National High School is situated in a two hectare area in Brgy. New Isabela which was
once a corn field. It is one and half kilometer away from the south west Poblacion City of Tacurong.
The school is considered potential because of its strategic location as well as its accessibility to the
many surroundings feeder schools such as New Isabela central School, Calean Elementary School,
New Carmen Elementary School, Abang Suizo Elementary School and others.
Created under R.A # 7335 it replaced the former Tacurong Municipal High School, now the
Sultan Kudarat Polytechnic State College. TNHS cater to the need for free Secondary Education to its
constituents in the nearby places.
It was open in S.Y (1994-1995) offering the First Year curriculum level only. Initially it registered an
enrollment of two hundred thirty (230) students with three (3) teachers of whom were in the Regular
National Plantillia and four teachers were paid under Special Education Fund. This was during the
time of the Mayor of the Municipality of Tacurong Honorable Roncal O. Montilla.
Of its First Year Operation, the pioneering teachers had witnessed how happy the parents
were, others could even cry because they felt the heavenly blessings that fall upon them. They were
thankful that God answered their long standing prayer, the birth of Public Secondary School in the
locality.
The rapid yearly increased of its enrollment could be attributed to the very evident progress
and development of the schools physical facilities.
School Year 2011-2012, Tacurong National High School opens an Annex at Upper Katungal
for the good and accessibility of the students of Brgy. Katungal and the nearby places.
At present, TNHS continuous its commitment to afford students with quality education in the
City with the dynamic leadership of Mrs. Isabelita R. Duadua, Principal III, more progress in terms
of physical infrastructure and academics are imminent to unfold boosting excellence
