ASSIGNMENT #1

TITLE: Up-cycling PET Bottles

Abstract:
The study assesses the environmental impacts of up-cycling polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles
to a wearable fabric by using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as the assessment tool. Three environmental
impact indicators are analyzed, i.e. water consumption, energy consumption and carbon footprint. The
LCA results are compared with virgin fabric manufacturing method.

1. Critically investigate the process of up cycling PET bottles to wearable fabric and critically study
LCA as the assessment tool.
2. Perform an inventory analysis to identify the inputs and outputs of the processes.
3. Determine the potential environmental impacts of the processes in terms of water
consumption, energy consumption and carbon footprint.
