Institutional Structures for Implementation and Monitoring

v Dedicated SDG cell at State Level has been constituted for monitoring the roll
out and implementation of Sustainable Development Goals 2030 in Madhya
Pradesh.

v SDG Cell at District Level - For localization of SDGs a cell under chairmanship
of District Collector with district level officials of the concerning District
departments as members has been constituted. Coordination with the ULBs and
Panchayat will be ensured through the presence of CEO Zila Panchayat, Project Officer
DUDA and Commissioner Nagar Nigam in the committee

Indicators and Data on Progress
v The state has prepared SDG 2030 Vision Documents with goal wise mapping of strategies

v Action Plan for Implementation of SDGs is under preparation (in consultation with departments)
in which strategies are further mapped with related schemes, physical targets for 2020, 2024
and 2030 and 276 indicators

v Directorate of Economics and Statistics has been asked to develop data gathering mechanism
for Monitoring and Evaluation of SDG Implementation

v The achievement of SDGs targets is planned to be measured through indicators. For this the
State will develop a web enabled monitoring dashboard which would be updated at the district
level on a monthly basis

v The district level officials would be responsible for collecting the data and updating the
dashboard . The validation of data would be done by district level committee 3
Capacity Building Interventions
v State Planning Commission conducted sensitization workshops for 9 working groups
(Task Force) covering 54 State Government Departments in FY 2017-18

v State Level Training Programme was organized in May - July 2016 at Bhopal on
integrating SDGs with decentralized integrated planning. Nearly 200 officials attended.

v Directives have been issued to all district collectors to allocate one session on SDGs
in all the training programmes.

v In July 2016 , Jan Abhiyan Parishad’s (A government sponsored NGO) officials have
been trained as master trainers (Total 55 work force ) to bring behavioural change and
sensitization on SDGs at grass root level

Issues and Challenges
v Defining Indicators - the relevant indicators to measure the outcomes of schemes
to achieve the various strategies under different SDGs

v Mapping of Goals , Strategies, Schemes and Indicators - Linking the SDG


Goals with specific strategies and further linking the Strategies with Schemes and
Indicators.

v Establishment of various baseline values for Indicators

v Bringing out behavioural change at local level is essential for achievement of


SDGs
