Philippine Literature

 is literature associated with the Philippines from prehistory, through its colonial
legacies, and on to the present. Pre-Hispanic Philippine literature was actually epics
passed on from generation to generation, originally through an oral tradition.
However, wealthy families, especially in Mindanao, were able to keep transcribed
copies of these epics as family heirloom. One such was the Darangen, an epic of the
Maranaos.

Three benefits that a student can get from Studying Philippine Literature

1. Philippine Literature serves as the building blocks of the Philippine history.

 as well as it creates a milestone to the lives of many individuals.
 It treasures the culture and tradition of many Filipino people and serves as a
legacy of the Philippines and to the future generations as well.
 It functions as the basis and standards of all the Filipino men about their role
in the society.
 It renders free service to all Filipinos by providing some thoughts, opinions
and suggestions.
 It creates a mark in the world and makes the mind of many individuals
enlightened and possesses high dignity and reputation.

2. Studying Philippine Literature reminds us of how the past generations uplift

their ways of living.
 It recalls the nature of what we are and how we used to be. By concentrating
on this field, we would be able to have knowledge and information about the
processes and the strategies of what and how we are today.
 It is the way of knowing as well as investigating the past to gather important
events and a way in preparing for the future generations.
3. Philippine literature gives readers knowledge of the country and its culture
and traditions, allowing natives and foreigners the ability to understand
Philippine history.
 We need to study the Philippine literature because by this we can preserve
the literature we have today.
 If no one would introduce or explain it to the upcoming generations, then it
would not exist in the next generations.
 Studying literature from any country is important because it gives readers
inspiration for better life and also provides historical knowledge to help
people understand the world outside their immediate setting.
 This is one of the country's treasures, pride, and glory. The least we could do
is take care of it and be proud of what we have.
