III. PROCEDURE
A. INTRODUCTION
Study the given problem below:
When an item is on sale, a store reduces its regular price. A customer pays less than the
original price. The amount taken off by the seller or the amount saved by the buyer is called the
discount.
The regular price charged for an item is called the original price. It is also called
tag price list price, or marked price.
The reduced the price, which is obtained by subtracting the discount from the
original price, is called the sale price or net price. To understand this further, follow the
discussion below.

B. DISCUSSION
A. Finding for Discount
To solve for the discount, multiply the original price by the ratio of
discount. To solve for the net price, subtract the discount price from the original
price. Study the given examples on pages 187-188.
B. Finding for Original Price
To solve for the original price, divide the amount by the rate of discount.
Study the examples on page 188.
C. Finding for the Rate of Discount
To solve for rate of discount or discount rate, divide the amount of
discount by original price. To understand this, refer on page 189

C. APPLICATION
